Not a bad school

Engineering department is ok. Some profs are good while some are not equally good. I love engineering. I have learned a lot from my education. A okay school for overall.

Competitive, collaborative yet relaxed and positive environment.

A typical day starts at 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. I learnt a lot about student oriented interactive teaching. Hardest part of the job was prep work everyday after school. The most enjoyable part of the job was of course teaching students. Thanks

Pros

Pot luck and outdoor activities and tours.

Cons

Very few holidays

Good place for people who want work-life balance

I would say that working at the University of Manitoba is the most pleasurable time in my past few years. The working environment is comfortable and all of the colleagues are very nice. The only disadvantage is that they don't offer much long-term jobs.

Human resources takes forever for job process

Working for the University of Manitoba was fantastic and I would love to work there again. Work days were busy and fast-paced which made for fast days. Funding for permanent jobs is greatly lacking. Some issues with Human Resources and management in some departments. Hard to get into most jobs as they are given to internals even though some externals are more experienced and better suited for the jobs.

Overall not stressful, get to manage time accordingly

Generally not too much work, employers were understanding and would support you in any way. I work alone, so I don't really know about the workplace culture. I learnt many things along the way typically about other courses in other faculties that I am not affiliated with.

Productive, innovative and realistic

I am an active volunteer there, learning and contributing to their upgrade on a previous project ( product) which is the smart tractor. This year's update will focus on location and sensor.

Workplace with advancement opportunities, good benefits, and constant learning

The most enjoyable part of my job is working with research study patients and knowing that I get to help make an impact in peoples lives. The workplace is very friendly and there is a sense of teamwork. There are also learning opportunities such as going to research rounds and presentations as part of your workday. Lots of the talks are interesting and applicable to what you do.

Research/Teaching Assistant

Being a graduate student is not easy. The only way to make a little money is to get Research and/or Teaching Assistantship. It will give you enough money to survive, but by no means a comfortable life. So you feel underpaid. But you are in it to get a Master or PhD degree, so that is ok.

nothing unusual

It is okay to work here if you want to become a professor after. The work that you are doing depends on your professor. If he is active you will be participating in collaborations etc. If not, it is boring to work with no way to get your foot to the industry.

Productive and fun - strong ability to develop those who want to learn

I've learned that through working at the university that there are many support systems for those who need it while working here. The people that I have worked with are fast paced and smart individuals who continue to out their best foot forward everyday, which drives me to continue to work hard.

Friendly and fast paced at the university bookstore

The bookstore was fast-paced, but everyone was very friendly and willing to help. The interview process took a while and was quite competitive, training was beneficial for other aspects of life and work experience.

excellent team

Great working conditions, super cool team. It's not too long before anyone is integrated to the team as long as you pull your own weight. Even if Randstad is a huge organization, it still has that small family feeling but with huge resources and support.
