The work environment is very toxic. Managers/supervisors are inexperienced power hungry bullies, avoid this place.
So pathetic
There is no singular work culture within research at UBC. Every lab's culture is set by its faculty supervisor's interactions with students and post-docs. Generally speaking, expectations are either not set or set way too high (e.g. 72 hour work week). There exists little will to enforce behavioural standards among faculty.
