Good mission, great job security, lousy pay

Fulfilling mission focusing on the warfighter, job security cannot be beat, GS paytable is very inflexible and locality pay is inadequate considering the high cost of local expenses and housing.

Rewarding to work for the Dept of Defense

Supervised 8 contract administrators responsible for the administration of Air Force Satellite contracts totaling over $8 billion dollars. My team was responsible for all requirements identified in FAR 42.3 as delegated by the Air Force contracting office. During this time from Feb 2009 to Aug 2010, I also supervised the pricing team consisting of 2 Divisional Administrative Contracting Offices (DACOs) and 4 Cost Monitors and 2 Pricers. The team was responsible for issuance of Forward Pricing Rate Agreements and/or recommendations, negotiating Final Overheads, Evaluation of Contractor Business Systems.

Demeaning place to work

DCMA stands for Defense Contract Management Agency. But in actuality stand for Dysfunctional Conglomeration of the Mismanged Agency. Just too many negatives, especially if you are an aerospace engineer.
