Very flexible work schedule. A lot of independence if given to employees.

Telework options are available. Lots of flexibility to how to structure your workweek. Easy to take time off. A good amount of sick time and vacation time is given. The main thing in the DoD is communication, checking emails at the beginning of the day and responding to voicemails. You need to be good at keeping a calendar. The benefits are great. Job is very stable. Lots of opportunities to advance.

Mission is critical and very rewarding

Typical day is working through contracting type issues related to ensuring the warfighter gets the product on-time, within cost and high quality. Expectation is to continue personal development to assist with higher-level performance expectations and to support career development.

Pros

Job stability, good benefits, advancement opportunities

Cons

Competition for advancement is significant, Military preference for positions

Better than Most

Pay is consistent, you'll always know what your going to be making but it is hard to advance far ahead of where you end up in the pay bands compared to the private sector.

Pros

Stable work/Pay

Cons

Goverment inherently causes its own problems

Okay if you want a moderate difficulty job and retire with a small pension

Job satisfaction depends on your location. Since this DOD related you will need to be working in a DOD contractor heavy locations to make a real impact and contribute to the mission and war fighting effort. Lack of advancement opportunities. All the old timers have seniority and are taking turns for the promotion leaving the younger staff waiting in line for years only to find themselves leaving for another position in a different agency or the federal government all together.

Pros

medical, flex schedule

Cons

promotion, compensation

Great Training

DCMA has a great training program. If you like change, DCMA is the way to go. Great benefits, just poor management. DCMA has plenty of opportunity for great long term employment.
