Easy job but tiring

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Long hours, pay is higher than minimum wage. Amazing job as a student. However, every day gets very repetitive. When the business is slow time feels like it's also going by slower. Booking off once you get into higher ranking gets harder.

Stressful

Extremely micromanaged but you meet great people along the way. The job itself if physically and mentally taxing, you will be exhausted by the end of the day. The managers don’t do anything they sit in their office all day.

Too much favouritism.

To get promoted in the store, you have to be favourite of this person. If the person doesn’t like you for the person’s whatever personal reasons, good luck to you. You wouldn’t get promoted nor even get raises. Be prepared to show up 7am in the morning for store cleaning including bathroom everyday. If you one minute late, that’s late. If it happens more than 5 times, you get warning letter. And they never hire a professional security to save their money, so be prepared to have to face dangerous people and handle situations by yourself. No one to be there to protect you.

Pros

None 30% employee discount including sale

Cons

Limited time offer can not apply to employee discount

fast-paced

Store can get busy at times and it's hard handling multiple tasks, but lots of coworkers are able to help. Overall its an okay place to work at as a student or for something casual.

Pros

employee discount

Cons

long hours

Fast paced and stressful

Management was terrible, insanely micromanaged and stressful at times. The employee discount was good and the coworkers were great but overall a tiring place to work at.

Apply to other place if you don’t want to suffer

Literally not worth your time, also they’re only hiring for full time and doing more work than a regular sales associate .. I don’t get them like they’re so choosy in hiring when they legit need workers!

Pros

Paid 30 mins break; stable hrs

Cons

Mostly everything

Awful

Long hours with only 2 half hour breaks (not paid) in between. Extremely tiring both mentally and physically. You are micromanaged and nothing is ever fully up to standard. Unrealistic expectations placed on new employees. There are never enough people working because most people quit soon after being hired. They have a very specific way of doing everything (folding, hanging clothes, unpacking merch etc.) and will insist you adhere by these strict protocols even if they are pointless and will actually slow you down. They often assign you to multiple sections and will expect you to be everywhere at once. You are expected to keep all clothing/displays 100% tidy at all times, even in a high traffic area that will inevitably get messy again a minute later. Can often get very tedious when you are stuck in certain low traffic areas for long hours and do not have much to do.

Pros

Pay slightly above minimum wage.

Cons

Literally everything else.

Overall customer service is top priority, the teach you to master every aspect of the job as a team.

Physically demanding and moving up in the company consists a lot of favoritism. The hardest part of the job is definitely the long hours, also toxic management in this location and multiple.

Good for students

Good for students, lots of hours available and pay rate is above minimum. However, there is no career advancement unless you're friends with the managers. You are constantly moving and hustling even if the store is not busy. If you like being micro-managed, this place is for you.

Very fast paced environment, can be stressful at times but good company to work for

It was a good to work overall and pay was decent. There is room for advancement if you were willing. Most days were pretty stressful as work deadlines were unrealistic. it was a very physically demanding job with long hours. There wasn’t much of a life and work balance but that’s what working for a Japanese company is like.

Pros

Room for advancement

Cons

Long hours

I only stayed for the co-workers

Uniqlo is a very stressful environment and you work for long hours. Favouritism of the managers is one of the common issue and sales floor leaders treat you like a kid.Uniqlo can give you a good retail experience but I would not suggest to stay in Uniqlo for a long time. I worked in Uniqlo for more than a year and I hate the fact that management has a lot of favouritism, and the fact that 1 minute late will give you a written warning is bullsh*t.

Pros

Good co-workers

Cons

Long hours, management is horrible and work culture is not good

Is a stressful environment

The management there is the worst, they will pick there favourites. Its the stressful environment especially closing time, even you have done your shift but you can’t go home if the team leader not agree with. You cant talk with your co-worker while you on the floor.

Pros

Good paid

Cons

Stress, bad management team

Great Place

Uniqlo is a very fast paced work. Despite of long hours, I find it fun to work at Uniqlo. The hours are not flexible especially if you want weekends off because weekends are blackout days.

No Good

I worked a year in this store, but I couldn't stand it anymore. I have a very bad opinion of working in Uniqlo. The workers are treated like cattle from managers, also leaders. Even a former worker had an incident inside the store and the treatment they gave her afterwards was very bad. There is much favoritism for Asians, I am Asian but it wasn't my environment.

Fun workplace

Fun place to work because of co-workers, you learn new skills on how to fold and tidy clothes. Depending on the store, management can be good or bad. Good place to work.
