Working here will only be fun if you're close with the workers
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 14 September 2023
Experience working here wasn't bad but I recommend reaching out to peers and making friends or else working here will be miserable. especially since management now isn't as supportive compared to how it was back then. The only problem with the store is the no AC and standing for long hours.

Jobs at UNIQLO Retail Stores
in Richmond, BCMixed Experience - Consider Carefully
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 11 September 2023
Here are some of my experience at Uniqlo Richmond Centre. Positives: -Above Minimum Wage Pay: Uniqlo pays $2 above the minimum wage, which is certainly a plus. It reflects their commitment to providing competitive compensation. -Promotion Opportunities: The company offers a chance for advancement every three months, which is a great incentive for employees looking to grow within the organization. -Friendly Co-workers: I had the privilege of working with friendly and supportive co-workers, which made the daily grind more enjoyable. Negatives: -Communication Breakdown: One of the significant drawbacks was the lack of effective communication between management and employees. Clear and consistent communication is vital for a productive work environment. -Favouritism and Treatment of Employees: Unfortunately, there appeared to be a noticeable bias towards employees hired through different means, who were granted faster advancement opportunities. What was even more concerning was how employees who did not meet the company's "standard" were treated poorly. -Unrealistic Standards: The company often set unrealistic standards for employees, making tasks more difficult than necessary. These high expectations could lead to stress and burnout among the workforce, and it's essential for the company to strike a balance between setting ambitious goals and ensuring employees can realistically achieve them. -Stressful Visits from Higher-Ups: Almost weekly visits from higher-ups created a stressful work environment for leaders, which, unfortunately, trickles down to employees. This constant -

Sale Associate (Current Employee) - Richmond, BC - 30 March 2023
I have been working at uniqlo for the past almost 2 years and it's a really good company that gives a good decent pay but the work is really stressful and we don't get enough support from the management

Productive workplace
Visual Merchandiser (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 8 March 2023
You have a lot of autonomy when it comes to styling. As long as you know what you're doing, management will let you do your work. Plenty of room for growth and development

Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 20 February 2022
Really loved my co-workers. Was quite stressful at times especially if you worked full time. On super busy holidays was required to work almost 12 hours so its good to keep that in mind.

Toxic, racist and very stressful
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 6 November 2020
This place has at least 8 our of 10 of the most notorious toxic key points of any working environment: - Some leaders (not even managers) humiliates and take advantage of their position. - Culture of spreading gossip around coworkers. - Isolating targets, socially and professionally. - A Racist culture in which if you don't "join" a side you will be constantly bullied. You either join the Chinese second generation group or the Philippine "bros". The culture ain't nothing different than anything you will find in any ghetto high school. - Utterly extensive micromanagement. - Constant distrust upon their employees. - A culture of overwork which is clearly not properly rewarded. - Withholding critical information relevant to the target's job with/without the target's knowledge, not sharing opportunities that could benefit the target.
Pros
Slightly above salary from any retail job
Cons
Long hours - highly stressful
