Stay away

Uber is a joke , if a customer makes a complaint against you , uber will not discuss the complaint so that you can rectify the issue . Instead they hide behind this confidentiality garbage excuse , you are unable to fix any issues that people complain about , instead uber just lets you go . Doesn't matter if the complaint was a year or more ago if you get more than 1 of the same complaint your done , your expected to hold a average of 8.5 To continue to use the app as a driver but yet they allow customers who have a 4.2 To still use the app as riders, they rip off the drivers by taking 25% off of every trip including deliveries , they pay for absolutely nothing , can't even reach anyone on the phone to discuss issues , they always respond with robotic responses

Pros

Pick your own hours

Cons

No communication, No respect, Uber support is a joke

Too many hours for minimum wage

I worked Uber full rime for 9 months before I gave up and got a real job. The mileage I put on my car plus the hours I had to put in did not yield the profit I had expected. Simply put, this business model should work for everyone in theory except that Uber continues to saturate the market with drivers. This gives customers low wait times but gives drivers low earnings opportunities.

Long hours

U have to work very long hours to make money Overall it’s a very good option if you have a job and you drive uber part time to supplement your income because by the time you pay for your experience you make below minimum wage

Was a lot of fun, but the management was often unorganized

I loved working there, had some really crazy busy days, but it was pretty casual for the most part. It was a lot of learning and relearning at the time due to regulations. Sadly there was almost 0 place for advancement, and the management often didn't know answers to basic things.

It was contract.

I wasn't with this company long, as the job I was doing for them was typical contract work. Dealing with their offices wasn't hard, the people were friendly and accommodating. A day at this job consisted of me driving all over Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, Nisku and Leduc, and collecting images for UBER's mapping project. Through this job I ended up learning about areas of Edmonton and the surrounding towns I'd have never known of otherwise. I was an independent worker, and had VERY little contact with other drivers on the project. The only one I generally spoke with was the person I was switching off with when my weekly shift ended. The job wasn't hard at all. The hardest parts of it were just dealing with rush hour traffic, which is something countless amounts of people deal with on a daily basis anyway. The most enjoyable part of this job was the fact I was working solo and only ever heard from the offices by phone when there was an issue, which was seldom.

Pros

Totally independent working environment

Cons

Long hours of sitting in a vehicle (up to 16 a day)
