Tsay Keh Dene Nation
Tsay Keh Dene Nation Employee ReviewA Traumatic Experience
Teacher (Former Employee) - Tsay Keh Dene, BC - 26 October 2021
Little to no support in the classroom, or in outside matters. Inexperienced admin. Admin broke many promises. Admin will ignore a problem until it becomes irrelevant, or goes away. Admin was unaware or, or chose not follow professional ethics. Extremely difficult to access benefits due to remote location. EAP program not responsive during crisis. Extremely challenging work conditions. Support staffing was inconsistent, leading to teachers needing to pick up the slack (cooking, cleaning, supervision etc...) Did not deliver what was promised in the contract. Lack of housing options was a major issue. Working professionals should not be required to share housing. Competitive salary was not worth the aggravation and trauma experienced over the school year. Tsay Keh Dene did not protect staff. Many staff members felt unsafe, or felt unsafe for their students. (Cannot provide more details as per Indeed's review guidelines) Serious infrastructure issues that threatened the health of staff and students. Multiple former employees have sought therapy and counselling support after working at Tsay Keh Dene School to deal with their experiences. Such a missed opportunity, as they put together an excellent staff that could have kept the organization stable for several years. Their management choices prevented this.
Pros
Beautiful location, Competitive salary, Excellent Staff.
Cons
Remote location, Poorly run administration, Did not follow contract promises, Very difficult to access benefits due to remote location
