A wonderful place, one where you have the future on one hand and TRIUMF in the other. For what I do, no salary can pay for the dreams we’re working towards, tomorrow for all. bA

It is a nice place to work in. There are many different facilities where one can understand the concepts of nuclear physics, atomic physics and medical physics.

A brilliant place to work. Highly recommended. The culture is that of a scientific research institute - very relaxed and collaborative. The work is among the most cutting-edge in science today.

TRIUMF is fun place to work and meet many people with a variety of technical skills. The best thing about this institution is that it allows a good life/job balance.

TRIUMF is a very interesting place to work, and the opportunities to learn are nearly unlimited. It is bogged down in paperwork, and that is starting to degrade its ability to meet project performance requirements and deliverable dealines.
Pros
Great Hours
Cons
Quasi-government organization bureaucracy

Very Boring Place to work. Work seriously UNChallenging. May be a fun place to work if you're a physicist...that's it. It used to be a place full of serious jerks making working there extremely stressful. If I were you I would give this place a pass.
Pros
Free Lunches.
Cons
Very Boring Place to work, Work seriously Unchallenging

Provides great opportunities and connections. Independent researchers enjoy freedom, as well as social and professional activities. Student and postdoc population is wide, diverse, and constantly changing.
Pros
Inclusive and forthcoming atmosphere.
Cons
A bit underfunded and slow to evolve.

Exploitative standard post doctoral employment with no clear path to steady work anywhere in Canada. Wage slavery perpetrated by the academic institution.
Pros
Wide hallways
Cons
Detached from living realities

Amazing company with amazing people that are immersed in the history of TRIUMF and are genuinely excited to share its story with the public while accelerating science.

The research and projects are interesting; however, new management is trying to change the culture into a fortune 500 manufacturing company. Unfortunately this is not what a scientific research facility is all about and does not apply. LEAN, 6 sigma and 5S stifle research and only put up walls when ideas are supposed to flow. Great place as a stepping stone in your career; however, get out and apply your new knowledge in industry. Basically a physicist's playground with no understanding of the real world.
Pros
Great benefits and vacation
Cons
Senior management, uninformed project managers and PhD egos

Great people to work with and the place is really nice and the science is crazy. Long commute but if you can get past that then it is okay to work there. Lots of nature at your soorstep and cloae to the beach. Work with exciting young talented students in the sciencea and this is always an enlightening experience.
Pros
Ubc is pretty
Cons
Long commute

Management and the HR department don't stick up for the employees. BULLYING is a big problem in this organization, management and HR just turn a blind eye to this issue. This department in particular is dysfunctional, decision making is all over the map and those who are suppose to be 'senior' don't seem to really know what they're doing. Then again management doesn't really seem to care about quality work, so if you're just looking to collect a pay check, then you just might fit in nicely. BUT WATCH YOUR BACK!!!!!
Pros
good co-workers
Cons
management and HR

9-5 typical work, learned alot about the facility and ongoing projects at the time. Management is decent but definitely needs improvement. Coworkers are great, organizing occasional outing such as hikes and etc. However, it was not the best location to work.

I got a chance to work with some of the most brilliant minds of my generation and the generation leading our particle physics and nuclear physics research. Working construction was more interesting for me than sitting in front of a computer waiting for 10,000 calculations to compute. At points I was notably lacking guidance in what I should have been working on.
Pros
Good people
Cons
Programming is boring
