Good place to slowly go broke.
Owner/Operator (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 29 September 2023
You'll be pushed to run over hours. They won't ever say it but "I can't find anybody else to get there and we need this load out ASAP". You won't have a load if you don't. Corporate culture is a joke. You've always got a friend when it suits Trimac but when the tables are turned they couldn't care less. You're nothing to them. Moral is garbage. Mostly because everyone is broke. Training is laughable. Equipment is in poor shape. A lot of the time I would fix their equipment myself just because it was cheaper than running their unit back to the city for repairs. Low rates. Unless you've got a truck that never breaks and runs on fairy dust...you will always be one major repair from a negative balance, and when that repair inevitably comes, there will always be some poor shmuck to take your place. I watched this place break a lot of good people and ruin a lot of good promises. This company runs on empty promises. Stay away...please stay away. Don't do this to yourself. One more thing, you really really need to go through your paystub every single pay day. It was very rare to have a paystub without missing loads or hours. Sometimes we'd have the same conversation every two weeks for months on end because there were issues that still weren't fixed.
Pros
I got a free coat once
Cons
Trimac

Not the best company to work for.
Truck Driver - Class 1 (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 24 August 2023
Too much false promises but Dispatches kept telling you deferent stories and change of plan for several times. Hire too many and give great orientation then not enough trips. I don’t recommend it. Also not much respect from dispatch to drivers.

Best to work night shift and skip the drama.
Class 1 Driver/Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Trail, BC - 19 July 2023
No cooperation from the shop in Trail so trucks received little to no maintenance. We had to drives truck that we’re not road worthy most of the time increasing the risk to public and operator safety.
Pros
Decent pay and home time
Cons
Not a team atmosphere.

Low morale, toxic management
Mechanic (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 14 May 2023
Trimac provides little to no training to their maintenance employees. If you are an apprentice looking for work they will hire anyone that walks through the door. Do not expect to be well trained and once you have enough hours move on or you will be stuck as a Journeyman with no skills. This is not a place to progress in your career. They pay well and that is how they trap people into staying. Their shop is 70 years old and too small for the application they are using it for. Management is so concerned with their bonus they do not want to spend money on proper tooling. If you worship the manager he will let you do whatever you want. Don't go here if you are well trained, you will not fit in. They made everyone take their personal tool box home and supplied Costco boxes to work out of. This was part of their shop of the future program that they were so proud off. They threw out what little tooling we had and said it would be replaced with new. Unfortunately that never happened and we were left with the bare minimum. The incompetence goes through all levels of management. The place is also over ran with nepotism. Multiple family members working in high possessions. Overall a poor choice for any mechanic!

Safe, reputable trucking company
Owner/Operator (Former Employee) - Port Colborne, ON - 18 March 2023
Trimac is a company that puts safety of its drivers and staff at the highest priority. Equipment is safe, you'll never be asked to take something on the road that has safety defects. Drivers are provided PPE and all the training you'll ever need (and more than you'll want but its for the best). Depending on the board you run there is a decent work life balance that was good enough that I stayed there several years as an owner operator and a couple as a company driver. If there wasn't a mandatory weekend per month and pay was better I'd still be there.
Pros
Strong culture of promoting and enforcing safe work practices, some decent home daily work on some boards
Cons
Normal Trucking issues, pay not the greatest, central dispatching it was better when my branch had in house dispatch, sometimes weird delivery times as its all on 24/7/365 customer demand, weekends

CEO vision change detrimental
former employee (Former Employee) - Winnipeg - 17 March 2023
Used to be a great place to work but a change of CEO in 2016 created so many stringent changes that it killed moral and took all the joy in working at Trimac. You are now a number, not part of the Trimac caring family. People who had been there 10-20+ years who had great contributions being made to their pensions who made many contributions to Trimac in return, couldn't take it anymore and are leaving in droves from all positions. Very sad to see the branch in Winnipeg go from thriving to nothing and so many long time personnel from drivers to administration to shop leave. It's a shell of a branch now
Pros
nothing
Cons
no caring, you are just a number

Not a good place to work...
Truck Driver (Former Employee) - Regina, SK - 8 March 2023
The company has a history of poor organization and customer service which makes it difficult for customers to get their shipments on time. First, Trimac's lack of communication with its customers can be problematic when it comes to shipping deadlines or other important information about orders. For example, if there are changes in the delivery schedule or any delays due to weather conditions, they often fail to notify their customers until after the shipment has already been delayed by several days. This creates unnecessary stress for both parties involved as well as lost revenue from missed deliveries and unhappy clients who may not want to work with them again in future transactions.. Secondly , Trimac also suffers from inefficient scheduling practices which can lead to late arrivals at destinations or missed pickups altogether . They tend not provide accurate estimates regarding arrival times so customers have no way of knowing exactly when their order will arrive . Additionally , drivers often make multiple stops along routes instead of completing one job before starting another thus creating long wait times between destinations which further undermines customer satisfaction levels . Last but certainly not least , Trimacs equipment maintenance procedures are subpar resulting frequent breakdowns during trips leading costly repairs and even more delays . Furthermore these mechanical issues could potentially put employees lives at risk while out on roadways making safety concerns yet another issue that needs addressed immediately by management team members within organization -
Pros
None
Cons
Bad organization of work.

Lots of work when busy.
Owner/Operator (Current Employee) - Regina, SK - 2 March 2023
Your income depends on branch. Location. And how busy season is. Weather affects loads, especially in winter time. It takes time to get into fast load/unload procedures and learn specifics at each customer facility and that affects how loads you can make in week.
Pros
Professional dispatchers
Cons
No benefits for O/O

Heavy loads heavy maintenance required
Owner Operator/ Driver Trainer (Former Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 1 March 2023
Over all good company to work with. They lost some valuable customers and because of that O/O are not making much as compared to past years. Management is respectful, worked with them almost 16 Years.

Don’t get deceived by hourly rate
Truck Driver (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 3 February 2023
Only one reason. You get paid by mile past 100 miles. All of the company drivers quit because of this Mileage loads. All of them literally that I have known. This horrible 52cents a mile runs include pretrip, post trip, fueling up, winter road conditions etc. So you work at least 1hr free every day (in the summer). Now imagine in the winter. 2-4 hrs free. Very stressful to fight for what you have worked. Trimac saves 1hr successfully from good efficient experienced drivers. Good drivers quit. Trimac hires new inexperienced even green drivers forever. Then all the major incidents start from there.
Pros
Time off Request is accepted easily. Less physically demanding.
Cons
No safety bonus. No uniform allowance. Union fee. 50/50 paid medical benefits
