  • I worked for ttcc for 13 years. Overall I enjoyed my time there and enjoyed what I was doing which was teaching different folks heavy equipment. I had the opportunity could teach students from various backgrounds and a different areas within the world. At times it was difficult with students that did not has much of a grasp of the English language but you overcome that with experience by finding alternative ways to teach them. I was fortunate in that I was pretty much left alone to be able to teach them but I think they required for when they left the school to become successful. When I first started pay raises where every 6 months but after 3 years that ended and you got a pay raise every couple of years. That part was a little disappointing but it was still an enjoyable place to work. Usually around November December January your hours were cut to 30 hours per week due to the lack of students in the off-season but then he saved your vacation pay and added some of that to your hours every week to help make up the difference. Things normally picked up again in February and there were many times that your work week was 60 hours. Regardless of the length of time you were there the job had to get done so you suck it up and do it. Over the course of 13 years I probably talk close to a thousand students and most of them were great people and a lot of them had gone on two careers working heavy equipment. I found it rewarding to take these folks who had never been around heavy equipment and by the end of their allotted time they knew how to run it, safe, and maintain it and to be able to get a job in the outside world. I left after 13 years because I was moving to another province and new adventures. I would highly recommend working for these folks hey, at least in the capacity that I was in.
