Don't care about employees

I worked at TTCA for a few years (a little over 3 years), I went from off-loader to parts-mover to press-operator to team-leader. I was a press operator for a year and a half and team-leader for over a year. The job is fast paced, the team leaders are not what you would call "leaders". Toyotetsu say they care about their employees but they don't. Those in the front office (Admin, HR, etc.) do seem to believe this but on the work floor/warehouse it is another story. Abusive and demeaning leadership (for the most part, some team leads and group leads actually know what they are talking about) but for the most part it is a "FASTER, FASTER!" mentality that brings little reward (BBQs if there is a good month). The company would excel with a profit sharing model. Most employees feel over worked and under valued. The attitude is "If they cause a problem, we will replace them". I once sat in a meeting were they discussed summer students as, "A great opportunity because we can pay them less and work them more".Training is poor at best, if they put you in a role and you struggle they don't give you more training. Accidents are a normal thing because of this type of thinking (mostly cuts from offloading)They have a program for constant improvement in which employees can be given a bonus based on ideas that can improve safety or productivity, but on multiple occasions I have seen submissions turned down and then later used with slight modifications so that the employee would not receive any compensation. If you are in need of money the pay is good but the work environment is brutal. -

Pros

Pay is good for area

Cons

Bad management, very fast paced, loud environment, very short breaks

Great company to learn and grow with

If you're not afraid to work you will be rewarded. Toyotetsu is a fast-moving organization and is always looking to do better. If you're okay with an air-conditioned fast-paced manufacturing environment you will do well.

Pros

Benefits-Pension Plan-Lots of overtime available-room for advancement-appreciation lunches

Cons

Night shift

Not So Steady Work Place

I have worked at ttca for around 5 months an recently was layed off. I work hard 8 hour days no problem and did my job. No job should be able to randomly fire you and make u struggle for no reason. I loved the work well I worked there and am was very upsetting when I got the news. Beyond that its a great place to work. Sadly they have to let people go randomly

Pros

Good hours

Cons

Randoly letting people on contracts go or not renewing contracts

Worst management ever !

The managers of this company only care about one thing only... production! They have no common sense and punish you with written warnings and suspensions for making a mistake. Constant overtime and it’s never enough. Always pushing more responsibility on people. I’ve never worked for a company with such low morale and the turnover rate is through the roof. The pay is decent, but not worth the grief you have to deal with there. You will regret working here... trust me!

Pros

Decent pay, pension and benefits

Cons

Everything else

It’s a corporation, they only care about profit

Terrible management, 44 hours a week minimum. They take advantage of hardworking employees and play favourites with brown noser’s. Short breaks, few holidays or sick days. A lot of drama around the plant just like high school. Only recommend If you need a quick paycheque.

Pros

Benefits, pension

Cons

Long hours, unhealthy environment for mental health. No fair opportunity’s

Terrible!

During my in class training it seemed amazing, it seemed like an amazing place to work, but that's all lies. It's just their way of luring you in. When you start your on the floor training you are required to wear your typical PPE, and a face mask because of the Corona Virus, and on top of the face mask, a face shield(For extra COVID-19 protection). It's already super hot in the factory, and no air flow can get to your face with the shield on, The shield also pushed onto the safety glasses, which caused them to plug my nose a bit. I could hardly breath. I asked a Team Leader if I could at least take the face shield off and I explained to her why. The answer I got was a very rude "No you can't" then she walked away. Roughly 10 minutes later I fainted and hit my head. (I was lucky I fainted where I did because anywhere else I could've got REALLY injured. Once I gained consciousness I was in the First Aid room, and they were trying to write me up saying it's all my fault why I fainted. So i quit, because they don't care about my health and safety like they had said during my in class training, they only cared about covering up their mistake by putting the blame onto me. On top of all that, after I quit, I didn't receive my direct deposit pay. I emailed HR and they told me I have never given them my direct deposit, which I did on my first day when they were collecting everybody's direct deposit. So they must have lost it. So now I'm waiting for my pay check to come in the mail, and who knows when I'll be receiving it. I've been checking my mailbox twice a day in hopes that my check -

Moronic managment, absolutely ZERO intelligence in supervisor staff

The knowledge of the team leaders and group leaders is an absolute joke. They rely in the senior team members to do 90% of the job. And any of all 'leadership stands around and just talks. Avoid. You've been warned. Less you like making others look good and take credit for all your work. Useless company

Fast paced group leaders are awful

If you want to work none stop while there it's your body. Down time for maintenance etc goes towards your minutes of production you are expected to work harder. You can work like a horse and still get in trouble. And if you dont use drugs to enhance your ability you wont get hired, dont do overtime you get hired ..to much favouritism group leaders have favourites

Cons

Demanding not a friendly place to spend 8hrs a day

Good managers are few and far between.

Some days were smooth, other days I was down for hours. But it’s a numbers game. Most upper management just come by every once in a while to check your numbers. It is assumed that if you don’t hit your numbers that it’s your fault, even if we don’t have the staff/materials to support your process. My particular group leader is probably the best manager there. He made an effort to get to know me more when he could, gives constructive criticism (not just “we’re low on inventory”), and acknowledges a job well done, unlike most upper management. The pay is below average. They constantly spring mandatory overtime on you at the very last minute; they surprise you by letting you know that, by the way, the 7-3 week of over time you volunteered for will probably be 7-7 instead. They frown upon a 5-minute bathroom break. As someone with experience in a disgusting, hot, dirty steel mill, I much prefer the steel mill to this place.

Pros

Some good managers, decent pay

Cons

Pressure to make up for lost time, rude management, surprise mandatory overtime

Overall a good place but management sucks and HR is terrible

I loved the work there I loved the drive But advancement is a popularity contest You can work so hard every day but unless you miss butt and are a rat you are a no one The shift work is difficult to balance as a single parent and they do not have no remorse to work with you in that even when shifts changed after you started

This company need to learn how to treat people

They say they will hire people with disability but what they don’t tell you if you report an injury due to their defective parts that you report to them and are told to use them anyways and get hurt more your job is done doesn’t matter if you still do your job get your numbers . Even if you are returned to this place by WSIB they will just keep extending your contract till they are off the hook

Run Fast and Hard Away From this Loser Company

Too many management staff that do Nothing. Favouritism is rampant in Company, if you Jiggle, Wiggle and Giggle you get special treatment. Expect too much work from some and not much from others. Pay does not come close to what you do. Don't bother with this company, Oh, maybe if only you need a job right now, but keep looking for something better. Rotating shifts, should be paid shift premium for all shifts as this company expects you to run your life around them.

2 Years of My life wasted

They preach safety first, but they should be saying “parts first!” You are a number here. You don’t matter. The only thing that matters are the parts. They care more about the parts. And that they are okay rather then your cut off finger. They will make you use unsafe equipment. Work life balance? There is no life when you work here. You are mandated every weekend. Stay away for you and your family’s sake

Not a very well run company

Safety first? Only after numbers. No long term fix to problems, just band-aids. Busting your A** and putting yourself in danger only to be paid the same as somebody with a simple, safer job. Too many managers with too much time on their hands, stand and stare with their hands behind their back just to intimidate. They don't listen to your concerns when you have any. Rotating midnights sucks. On a positive note though, other team members are decent people for the most part; depending on the job you do you can learn a lot and pass the shift fairly well, though other jobs are monotonous and tedious. You may take your job seriously at first, though after a while you will view the place as a TV sitcom

Always on the go

You’re always on the move, if you’re job is complete you’d help others out if not put back in rework. There’s always work to be done in rework and you’d work as a team with others

Not a bad place

It’s not a bad place just the management with what they tell you then what they do is not as fair as I’d like to say I worked there 5 months they were supposed to put me up to 20 from 18 after 3 if I had perfect attendance and work meant the numbers it would be good and I just got fed up with the run around excuses when I had asked they just gave excuses
