Very clique-ish workplace
Nothing (Former Employee) - Caledon, ON - 12 January 2021
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedProbably a great place to work if you fit in immediately. However, if you are not on board with your specific departments culture right away, it can be very hard to advance. It is a very political environment, with some councilors and staff treated very differently than others based on community viewpoints. Management can be inconsistent with requests and quick to anger. Change is resisted quite a bit at higher levels.

terrible management will throw you under the bus
Animal associate & Animal Control Officer (Former Employee) - Caledon, ON - 24 March 2023
There is so much red tape,...management will throw you under the bus in a heart beat to make themselves look better when it counts. There is no morale and no culture. Top people do not do their part and blame on the lower people. Management does not listen to the needs of the worker. Good perks for full time staff. If you like to get paid, not really work and you are a sheep that follows and not care then this is the place to work.
Pros

Cons
they do not follow their own core core values

Terrible
Employee (Former Employee) - Town of Caledon - 5 June 2021
Don't waste your time. There is so much red tape, nothing ever gets done...management will throw you under the bus in a heart beat to make themselves look better when it counts. Work/life balance is non existent especially if you work from home. There is no morale and no culture.

Management Requires More Oversight and Accountability
Front Line Worker (Current Employee) - Caledon, ON - 13 April 2021
It is heartbreaking to see what the Town of Caledon has become. If I could describe the Town of Caledon it would be like this: Imagine a place filled with people who all parade around their massive egos to compensate for their inferiority complexes. If you are not apart of the Management team and are just some lowly worker, good luck. Workers at the Town of Caledon are limited in their own ability to make decisions, take the initiative, or have the ability of free thought or expression whatsoever. Workers, you could have upwards of 5 supervisors alone, some you will never once encounter or never have known you even had that many supervisors. You could present an idea to your first supervisor; get the go-ahead and you would think their approval is enough. Then, you come into work the next day and be told by your next supervisor that the idea you came up with is unacceptable. You will not be given a reason why, but you will be presented with the excuse that you did not go through the proper “Chain of Command.” You will be thinking to yourself, “Why do I have all these supervisors if they can all be undermined by the one above them?” Trust me you are not the only one. The truth is, since the idea was not first thought of by your supervisor, that whole inferiority complex will kick in. And the only way that a supervisor can make themselves feel better is by belittling workers. The COVID-19 pandemic has uncovered the realization that many people apart of the Town of Caledon’s Management team are incompetent, overpaid and expendable. From the very start of the pandemic, there was -
Pros

Workers and management
General Labourer (Former Employee) - Bolton, ON - 30 March 2021
Worst place to work after 13 years as a loyal employee I was tossed to the curb because I refused to play the clique game. Head management is totally useless they do not know what there workers are doing all time. Full time workers are extremely lazy they expect the contract workers to do all the work
Pros
Free coffee
Cons
Clique environment, no benefits for seasonal staff

full time employees work ethic is horrible!
Parks Labourer (Former Employee) - Bolton, ON - 13 January 2021
There is no drive with both management as well as full time employees. They are only there for a pay cheque and take no pride in their jobs. For a tax payer to see this first hand is a disgrace and I know my taxes are wasted in the town of Caledon and it is a shame.

Productive and very fun workplace
Part Time Facility Maintenance (Current Employee) - Caledon, ON - 9 June 2020
part time maintenance staff is incredibly underpaid for a job that is merely identical to that of a full time worker. the only difference is additional training and some jobs that part timers can't complete. apart from that m experiences at the town have been nothing but positive

Jobs at Town of Caledon, ON
fun but not always professional
Program staff (Former Employee) - Mayfield, ON - 3 October 2019
Allowed for an amazing opportunity to work with various age groups, but the employees are not always the most professional. This workplace allows for a good environment for the patrons, however it is not always great for the employee as it is more of a lax environment rather than a business environment.

Potential Applicants Beware!!!
Employee (Current Employee) - Town Of Caledon - 3 September 2017
The Town while presenting a inclusive and forward thinking environment is as unprofessional as you could possibly imagine.
staff are not respected. The turn over of experienced competent staff is astonishing. In this non union environment management takes full advantage of walking out staff of all experience levels with little to no cause. Every Friday a weekly staffing report is published outlining incoming and outgoing staff. All staff are constantly on edge because you could be next!!!. Job security does not exist here only flavour of the month.
this municipality seems to be more of a stepping stone because when people come in and truly discover the poisonous culture the begin to look for their next employer.
how this municipality hopes to attract high level staff and retain them with a less than stellar reputation is beyond me. I have personally observed the repeated harassment of employees by managment as they operate in a consequence free environment without union protection.
Pros
Free Coffee
Cons
No Training, Inexperienced Management, No Job Security, No representation for non union Staff.

Decent hours, decent pay
Administration/Senior Kennel Attendant (Former Employee) - Bolton, ON - 24 July 2017
Management constantly changing... hard to get any major projects in the works or completed. Good pay, good hours, a lot of freedom. Staff appreciation events only held in main office - staff working in other facilities excluded
