Super great co-workers, but kind of slow days
Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Kingston, ON - 21 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI really enjoyed everyone I worked with at Torrid, I think my only complaint would be the hours. Working at the mall, it’s kind of an obvious that your hours are gonna not be so great, but I wasn’t expecting 2-3hr shifts, to be honest. Best part of the job, or any retail job, will always be being the cashier, and the worst is probably closing. Making sure all the hangers are facing the same way, swiffering two times. Y’know stuff like that. I haven’t worked here since 2022, so I’m usure if things remain the same, or if anybody I worked with at that time even work here anymore, but if they do, you’ll enjoy (almost) everyone!
Pros
Short hours
Cons
Short hours

Jobs at Torrid
Don't work at a new store if you can help it.
Retail Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 5 July 2023
Managers are clearly stressed. Which results in them being very rude and short with part time staff. Part timers don't get a lot of hours but there is often offers for covering shifts. But if working at the saskatoon location I don't recommend. You will be getting minimum wage for a lot of work, given a 4 or 5 hour shift a week. Unless you want the discount I wouldn't recommend working here. They want you going 200% on a 20% budget. There is no friendliness between the staff because the only staff you'll see is the management and they are just there to bully you.

Busy busy busy
Manager (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 3 June 2023
We get a lot of turn around so it’s hard to find people who care about the job. It can be a very fun environment to be in, but it can be stressful for the full time staff as the part timers only get 3-12 hours a week so they put a lot of the work onto management.

Decent PT job
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Ottawa, ON - 7 May 2023
They have a good employee discount, but the hours are sporadic, nice team to work with, even as a part time gig or anyone looking to supplement their income

Accommodating
Key Holder (Current Employee) - Oshawa, ON - 29 March 2023
The most I can say, is the management is very accommodating, even though they don’t have to be. Working environment, can at times be really fun and easy! I wouldn’t say laid back… because it is a job. But definitely working with people you get along with really well helps.

Not Disability Friendly
P/T Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Moncton, NB - 15 January 2023
I use an electric power chair. I was hired under the impression that I'd be a part of the team. They accepted all my accomodations without question (although I was put off from starting my training for a month after I was hired) & I was only given one three-hour shift a week, despite working very hard & asking for more, the hours never increased. I volunteered for seasonal help, but rather than increase my hours, they hired new people. I was often put to work in the back rather than out among customers. It became very obvious that I was their token disabled hire & was being pushed aside. The staff always spoke down to me when explaining something & I was expected to use the mall bathroom rather than the one in the store. I also overheard one of them imply that a customer had saggy breasts. Not professional. I thought I was being given a genuine chance but instead I wasted seven months there & I really wanted it to be my forever job. They didn't even respond to my resignation letter. Happy to be rid of me I guess.
Pros
50% Staff discount
Cons
See review, not equipped in anyway to deal with disabled individuals

Your experience depends on your management team
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Ontario - 9 July 2022
Don’t expect any hours if you’re not management. The job is typical for retail, some days are harder than others. Upper management (DMs and GMs) do not have the backs of workers against irrational, angry customers.

Amazing place to work entirely depending on store staff.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 22 June 2022
The management and sales associate teams will make or break this job. Upper management and the designers of the clothing know nothing about current clothing trends or appropriate pricing.
Pros
Amazing work culture with the right team
Cons
CEO and designers repeat 2014 trends, not interested in what young plus size people actually want to wear

It's alright
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 20 June 2022
Good discount and I enjoyed the people I worked with. However, The pay is not equal to the amount of work you do at ALL! They need to pay people for the amount of work they do.

Great place to work. Only issue I would say is it’s retail and can be a bit hard to book time off.
Sale Associate (Current Employee) - Halifax, NS - 17 April 2022
Recommend. Awesome discounts that and extend to family. Everyone is treated well and management is nice. Not stressful and everyone helps each other out

Doesn't respect boundaries
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Thunder Bay, ON - 18 March 2022
I told my manager i was worried about covid and my manager scheduled me for the black friday sale. I ended up leaving shortly before black friday because my manager was not considerate of my feelings about the pandemic. Other than that i enjoyed working at Torrid

My favorite job I've ever had
Cashier/Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Brampton, ON - 17 March 2022
This workplace is unlike any other. We are a family here, the team is here for everyone and the store manager cares so much about all of us that it genuinely makes me emotional sometimes. We have a strong mix of work and fun during shifts, and we work together during the harder days to meet goals, and celebrate together when we do. Headquarters is generous to keep and eye out for our accomplishments, whether it be big or small. Overall, APPLY HERE. This company is amazing and you won't regret it.
Pros
50% employee discount, good team

It's retail. What do you really expect?
PT ASM (Former Employee) - Ontario - 23 February 2022
I've worked retail for an unfortunate 20+ years. This is really no different than any other retail chain. Nights, weekends, holidays. Not enough staff. Not enough pay. No real appreciation.
Pros
It's a job

Torrid is such an awesome company
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Surrey, BC - 21 February 2022
Torrid regularly rewards their employees, and shows appreciation. From special employee only sales to little gifts, I have never felt more valued as an employee. They are super accepting of everyone, regardless of appearance, hair colour, background, tattoos, sexuality, etc.
Pros
50% off employee discount, Positive work environment, Consistant employee appreciation, Employee only sales, Open minded/ accepting environment
Cons
Unless you are management you don't get very many hours, There can be long periods of nothing to do on your shift.

Okay environment

Left for personal reasons. Products had diminished in quality but increased price overtime. Management was very kind but had problems keeping employees and managing their schedules and time. More labour than expected.
Pros
Great discounts Luncheon style days Employee bonuses
Cons
Last minute scheduling Inconsistent training CEO
