Collector (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 23 May 2018
TTC is among best 100 company to work for. This is a union job and that makes it one of the best company to work for because of job security. TTC provides a lot of benefits and a lot of trainings and there is also a good chance of development . Also there is a chance to work a different specialization since TTC has many departments .
Station Collector, Collectors Divisions (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 3 September 2017
Great place to work. Fun and energetic. Great staff. Things i've learned was managing different stations. counting and collecting fares. The most enjoyable part of the job was helping people and giving directions.
Customer Service Associate (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 31 August 2017
Helping customers find directions and answering general questions about routes. Making sure people are safe and board trains in a timely manner. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with people.
TRANSIT OPERATOR (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 31 August 2017
Great company to work for, lots of advancement. A typical day with the TTC is great though, not very stressful and easy to separate work from your personal life. The hardest part of the job is the splits and long hours that are required.
Very Rewarding Career - Lots to learn and lots to explore
Streetcar Instructor (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 30 August 2017
Currently my work day consists of preparing the slides for my class (for my in class portion) I present the days topic (with power points) anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours. Then we hit the road explaining all the functions (that are necessary for the operator to know) on the streetcar (or subway, or bus) and then drive around town (for up to 4 hours) critiquing, analyzing, and correcting the operator/trainee' s driving habits / behaviours.
Station Ambassador (Former Employee) – Toronto, On – 15 August 2017
Working with the Toronto Transit was amazing. I got to meet new people and see lots of different tourist who came to Canada especially around the time of the Pan-Am games. Lastly, the management team was wonderful and treated their employees with respect. They always made sure that safety was their number one priority and ensure that we were well hydrate during extreme hot weather. In return of our successful customer service we were guratneed a position every summer as long as we were in school full-time.
Customer Information Representative (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 28 July 2017
Has great pay and benefits, depending on what department you're in it is hard to advance. Fellow employees are great to work with, make the work environment easier to handle. Management is good and for the most part willing to listen to new ideas or issues anyone may have had. Some managers are difficult and rude.
Fellow employees are great to work with, able to volunteer for different activities
computers are really old and slow, phone system extremely old and phones break down every so often.
Good wages & average benefits (gets worse as the years go by)
Transportation Operations (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 27 July 2017
Company still working with old technology and terrible people skills especially the management to upper management staff. The company does not understand the importance or work / life balance and still create many of their own issues with scheduling, terrible management practices and mis-management of funds.
TTC not built to handle the volume of population growth that it is now. Many improvements still needed in transportation, station and security upgrades.
You need to change all of it and leave out the political obstructions.
wages & benefits (pension if is remains for the future)
Long hours, no work life balance until 15+ years or over, poor management practices (threatening, intimidation, very little flexibility to help anyone other than themselves), huge sacrifices with social life & family life, uncertainty with securing jobs now & for the future
Focus on the company and your individual experience while employed there
Driver/Operator (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 24 July 2017

Their wage and benefits are very good.
Their Routating shifts are a bit difficult to work
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Toronto – 19 June 2017
This job was through an agency so it is not a review of the TTC. However it was a physically and mentally difficult job. You are expected to do this job through the winter (standing outside in -20 degree conditions). Briefing of rerouting of the transport systems are not done properly.
