Clerk
Clerk (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 27 October 2023
Toronto community housing is great because you have a Union position so there is the job security there. Don’t expect to be trained when you are hired you are thrown into the role so if you are going to work here, make sure you are someone that picks up on things very fast overall depending on where you work your experience may vary if you have a passion for serving tenants And you work with the tenants then you can have a very fulfilling role helping people
Pros
Good pay
Cons
No training lack of direction sometimes

Good benefits and work life balance. Pay was great, and HR management team was very friendly, and actually cared about employees. Would work here again

Good pay and benefits.
Senior Service Coordinator (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 7 August 2023
I enjoyed the time I worked at TCHC. It can be a lonely job without much interaction with colleagues at times. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience among my team so we usually relied on each other, instead of management.
Pros
Pay and benefits
Cons
Not much team building

Ok place
Customer Service (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 24 July 2023
Decent pay, room to grow, can feel disconnected from corporate. Tenants are first in everything, which is good, but also need to consider employee needs.

Wouldn’t recommend
Grade 3 Client Care Clerk (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 23 July 2023
For such a big company, they do not care about their frontline staff nor do they care about tenants. Recommendations to improve the business would often be ignored by management, management would have 0 communication with you, lack of hybrid work arrangements for primarily email related position, no solid training guide, brought home little to nothing after mandatory pension plan was deducted. Was very excited to get this job but that excitement quickly died down after realizing how horrible this company truly is. Everyone was also very unhappy there which definitely reflects this company.
Pros
None
Cons
Hours, 6 month probation, no remote work arrangements for non client contact positions, low pay after deductions, poor management, poor training

Nepitism / favoritism is very high .
CMP 1 (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 23 October 2022
If you work here , hard work and attention to detail are met with envious and malicious team mates who won't hesitate to discredit you to circumvent their own lazziness. There is a very big cultural difference , meaning that their is a significant group of people belonging to the same culture who out number the rest of the employees and activly engage in creating a hostile work environment for anyone not belonging to the same cultural group. The management participates in unprofessional conduct and favoritism. Nepitism is alive and well in this company . The work is easy enough but the unprofessional culture and nature of the job environment can not be ignored.
Pros
Pension and benefits
Cons
Incompitant management / nepitism / hostile work environment

Awful
Emergency Dispatcher (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 28 August 2022
Not what I expected from such a big organization. Work place culture is terrible and management is horrible. Most people are there for a pay cheque and use the company as a stepping stone.

Challenging
TSC (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 26 August 2022
This organization has its perks, but the work culture and work life balance has serious room for improvement. There are a lot of gossipers. However, the work can be rewarding depending on your attitude.

Secure fun place to work
Journeyman Electrician (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 22 March 2022
In six years can’t say anything bad about the company from work life balance to management, high pay low hours and a willingness to work with the employee on and difficult times

Cool place to work
Intern (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 15 January 2022
Very well-balanced work environment. You don't take your work home with you. The overall job experience in the public sector is more lax and secure than in private.
Pros
-Good Pay and Benefits -Lovely Work Environment
Cons
-hard to get an interview -must be overly qualified

Good experience
Clerk (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 10 November 2021
Compensation is not bad. Good benefits and pension. You can transfer to another role after 12 months of service with the company. Management is flexible in terms of schedule and working from home. But some employees are toxic and will find the smallest thing to complain about. Some employees will try to find someone to blame for their mistakes, management knows but seems to let it slide and not address the issue. This does make the work environment stressful sometimes but you get used to it. I just laugh at it because it's actually silly. Work is work lol. However, there are also some easy-going and kind employees. Theres a lot to know, like legislations, processes and rules by the City. From my own experience, I found that tchc lacks structured training for new staff. I learned a lot about my role by myself.
Pros
Pay and benefits, work life balance, career growth
Cons
Training, toxic colleagues
