Grinder in Questwood Quesnel DIV. TOLKO IND.
Tolko as a company is great. However at Quest there was a constant turnover of managers, supt. It never took long for them to chose their fovorites.Working at Questwood was not always a pleasant experience for me. My style of work didn't always fit in there. I was raised to try my hardest and do my best, A habit I refuse to break. Without trying, or realizing it, quite often I was making someone look bad. It took several years to realize that the general attitude was that once you are a union member then there was no reason to try or prove your worth. I could just never understand that. My goal was to help the mill to produce and to keep producing. I didn't get a job there to be a union member. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against unions. Just some people chose to use it to their own advantage once they are in the position to do so. By not following suit you are considered an outcast. Can't really blame the staff either I guess. They had to choose to back plant committee members who happened to be tradesmen or, someone who just wants to go home knowing they tried their best.
Millwright in High Level, AB
Upbeat atmosphere, most people are good and helpful, a good place to learn a trade even if you’re already ticketedReally good learning atmosphere. Management for the most part is patient and understanding. You don’t get ridiculed for making a mistake. Great salary, as of 2022 $45.03/hr. If you land a weekend shift you work 3 days (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon) and get paid 1.25x. In other words, you work 36 hours but get paid for 45.
General Labourer in Lavington, BC
Not a place for a family manI would never suggest even doing an interview there. The owner is well know to not care about his employees. There only interested in hiring people who will bend over for them. There interview questions are ridiculous and have nothing to do with the job it self. If you want to work at a place where your just a number you found it.
Maintenance Millwright in Meadow Lake, SK
Lots of perks for meeting quotas Site Manager, Ops Manager great, Maintenance Manager has no real skills other then relieving people from their positions. They are going to lose some talented Maintenance personnel unless they re-evaluate positions to reflect site requirements due to over burdening Maintenance Management Staff. Could be a great place to work with better processes in place.
Good Pay, Good PeoplePeople here are friendly. Everyone seems to get along. Management definitely needs improvement. The amount of money that is wasted is ridiculous. They say safety is #1 priority, but when production is at stake, it falls on the back burner. I feel they are improving on this aspect. Over all, it's not a bad company to work for. Good pay, ok benefits, and knowledgeable staff.
