Loved the clients

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I worked at queenston heights location for 3 years. I grew to love the clients. Managment was very helpful and willing to work with you. Always needed more workers and the senior employees who had been their a while were rude to newcomers. The company does amazing things

Pros

Rewarding

Cons

Overworked and underpaid

Too much politics

I believe Thrive Group is a good company. The pay is great. Lots of perks for employees. However, there are a lot of politics like "seniority" and too many "cliques." I thought I was in high school with immaturity of all levels. The staffing is not very organized either. There are continuous hiring for PSWs but the new hires suffer because priority is given to "senior staff." Then why hire new people when it is so hard to get a shift? Current staff are working double shift and are miserable to work with because they want more money but really exhausted. This issue must be addressed.

Pros

staff appreciation gifts

Cons

cliques and politics

Not a good place to work

Overworked, underpaid, horrible shift hours. Incompetent leadership and oudated management. HR-agressive, IT-inept. Just another Corporate structure with a brand

Rewarding place to work

Great place to work - working in healthcare has been very tough the last few years. The management is always very supportive, encouraging and quick to recognize hard work.

Great residents, not great management.

Workplace was difficult to be in. No training on the floor, more just learn as you go. A lot of the other workers can tend to be upset with newcomers and make it difficult to work. The manager had to give me bigger shirts because they felt my behind was distracting and upsetting to workers and residents. Other workers tried to make me wear their pants during shift. It was a difficult workplace.

Pros

If you bring cash you can order out with residents

Cons

No training, intimidation from workers.

Thrive Group-- love the residents, but needs improvements for workers other than nurses!

PSW job is very labour intensive. Not enough time between morning care and breakfast to get everyone up and showered in time. Most of the time we are running late for breakfast. More job perks are definitely for the nurses (RPNS and RNS). Pay for PSWs is not the greatest, even with the $3 government incentive, which isn't permanent. Staffing department doesn't communicate with one another so schedules and pay are being missed or not inputted into the computer properly. Management definitely has it's favourite people, thats for sure. Some days there are more agency/outside PSWs than the companies PSWs itself. The same company has one home making more money than the other for all the jobs! Management talks to you like you are incompetent and don't know how to do the job YOU are trained and qualified to do. Management gives you a hard time about taking vacation/days off for medical appts/calling in with an emergency, etc. They'll deny it because "we are short staffed" but yet when people who are qualified to come for the job don't get hired.

Pros

Residents, Lots of Overtime

Cons

Management, Pay sucks, Favouritism

Toxic management and severely understaffed.

Every department was severely understaffed and the stress of trying to schedule clients into workers' already overfull schedules was horrible. Listening to the clients crying as I canceled them due to lack of staff broke my heart. If you have a family you can't work here as a CSA as they demand that you ignore your scheduled work hours and just work however the coordinator puts you. You will not receive any warning if your shift is changed. They ask that you be available to work on both Saturday and Sunday, which destroys your work and family balance. As a CSA I was informed that I am not allowed to ever book off a day.

Not the work environment the company wants it to be.

I love the philosophy of this company and I was so hoping it was true. But lack of staff, pay that doesn't equal the job/stress/lack of supervision makes it impossible. Not sure what the answer is.. but disappointed.

Stressful

Busy and stressful job. Culture is good. Very short staffed at all times. Staff are overworked and underpaid including management. If you can handle many tasks at one time and try to get them all done in your shift then this is the job for you.

Supportive and collaborative workplace with great people!

I had an amazing experience as a Summer Student at Thrive and learned many new skills. I was allowed creativity and independence in my work habits which really helped me develop as a student. The organization has a great culture and is very passionate about making a difference. The management is great and it was very evident they care a lot about their staff and clients. I loved my experience working for this organization and would recommend it to anyone.

Really Awful place to work.

The work place is toxic on many levels from unsupportive environment with disgraceful benefits. The pay is lower than all competitors for the same position.

Pros

Job security

Cons

The hours, the management, the low pay, the terrible benefit package

Very negative, unsupportive, unprofessional agency to work at

*Managers are bullies, including upper management, who transfer their own negativity and life frustrations into staff *purposeful disconnection between supervisors/management and frontline staff/the floor, lack of insight to the needs/behaviours of the service recipients *very stagnant, poisonous environment that rewards stupidity and laziness, but punishes independent, open minded, transparent, forward-thinking and the hardest working people

Pros

You learn about your value and how other agencies manage their business affairs, and how to avoid low places like this. Great example of places to avoid at all cost.

Cons

Everything

A decent company

As in all healthcare right now - things are stressful. That being said, the clients are a delight, and scheduling does their best to facilitate all involved with continual lack of resources.

Pros

Clients

Cons

inconsistent hours

People here really care about the clients. Demanding job, but worth the outcome.

You have to want to help clients, its fulfilling work when you know what good the service does for clients. The office is a great place to be, filled with great people.

A compassionate, innovative, collaborative and intelligent organization

Possibly the best workplaces I have ever worked at (and I have worked in many). There is no place like this that gives you the feeling you are surrounded by family. Everyone is so caring and considerate. CEO and senior leadership team members are very compassionate and supportive. It's a progressive organization that treats team members as they are never replaceable. It's kind of an organization even if you leave it once in a while you always come back. I have come back once and I know of others who have come back more than once.

Pros

Everything

Cons

Nothing

Amazing workplace

I have worked with Thrive in different capacities for 10 years. I have been part of them building a collaborative and respectful work culture, while navigating the challenges of Covid and healthcare with amazing strength. They have provided me and others with education opportunities and room for advancement. Thrive cares about their employees. There are constant gifts, thank you's, givewaways and lots of food. With healthcare shortages management is available, supporting front line staff through all challenges. Management at all levels have an open door policy with quick follow up.

Pros

Work culture, supportive management, encourages personal growth

Great place to work

They are a company who not only say but show their appreciation for all of their staff's hard work during the pandemic and pre-pandemic. Thrive is always focused on the safety of the residents/clients/staff, one step ahead of most organizations in protecting everyone before/during the pandemic. They are great at promoting and training staff within the organization. This is the first company I have worked for where they saw my potential and created a plan for my success before starting a new role.

Pros

Great culture, work/life balance, appreciation

Cons

none that I can think of

Great Place to work

Love the culture at Thrive Group, the organization and employees live by the culture and it shows. One of the best things about Thrive Group is there is always room for growth within the company, and you're surrounded by great people. The most enjoyable part about the job is interacting with the clients, very appreciative of the help they get.

Pros

Thanks for the review! I would agree that there is lots of opportunity when you are part of the Thrive Group team. We are certainly a place where you can grow your career. We would love to hear your thoughts on how we can speed up our onboarding process! Please give me a call at 289-309-8477 ext. 582 if you have some advice to share!

Keep moving, this pace is toxic.

Agree with all of the negative and toxic culture despite their billboards they don’t put their money where their mouth is and they foster a competitive, non supportive environment where politics not ethics run the culture. Many of the people were great, just no real leadership and it’s dangerous to raise your hand. Can’t trust senior leadership or Human Resources as they appear to lead and foster this culture. Great place to get junior experience and take your experience and go elsewhere for more money as the wages are on the low end of the scale. If you want a stressful, backstabbing environment, this is the place for you. They seemed to keep and promote these people and the good and great run screaming from the building. This is evidenced by the leaders and company turnover in general and in my own time there, I saw many decent good people leave. They preach about their culture incessantly and don’t hold C suite or their leadership accountable to it. Run don’t walk. They consider this feedback from prior employees sour grapes from people that had issues but there seem to be an awful lot of us with similar opinions.

Pros

People

Cons

Culture is negative and toxic
