I loved working with the company and the community as a whole. I had endless opportunities for career development through experience. Co-workers were caring and knowledgeable to the scope of work being provided.
The company offered various community based supports; paired with creating theirn own expended professional community.

I find that this company all in all is relatively consistent with their full time and part time staffing with regard to their job placement in a group home assignment. But I feel that their causal staffing needs to addressed as the management seems to go through a lot due to them going from home to home which adds to the stress of having to shadow the casual staff and so puts more stress on full time staff to ensure that chores and protocols are followed.
As for permanent staffing, good. The homes are covered adequately. I find that another area that needs to be addressed is their vacation requests. Very confusing. I find that the homes themselves are aged and needing upgrading..mind you this is a private agency and thus cannot always address issues.

I never recommend to work with the Thompson community services. management so poor an unprofessional. All the managers so selfish. No one care about clients professionally. Expired food from the freezer uses for the clients every group homes. Staff using their own phones during the shift to record to other staffs. Which is very illegal. Don't work with this company

Very disorganized management, poor training, difficult to find time to complete paper work or mileage, gossip, terrible pay, taxi driver and 0 appreciation towards workers. Would never recommend anyone to work for this company especially the Surrey location.

Their turnover rate isn't high just by coincidence... You're better off working for another company if you actually care about the clients. Low pay, tons of overtime scheduling, poor communication with on-call workers. Managers are overworked. Lots of gossip about personal information

Awesome company with nice and supportive staff.
Great kids with a variety of difficulty disabilities.

Hourly wages are not commensurate to the job requirements and definitely impact staffing

Management is fair but can be improved upon.

If you don't mind feeling constantly on edge in certain homes/programs then you will do fine. Some programs/homes were better than others. Most of the staff were supportive and good at their jobs. Most former coworkers felt unheard and unsupported. There was a lack of support from management in all aspects but a lot of pressure to perform job duties at high levels without complaint.

A good place to work either front line or management. Room to advance. Lots of hours available even if working as a casual. A unionized environment under BCGEU.

This is a for profit company with an eye on the bottom line. The managers are overextended and are not always able to spend much time at the homes that they manage. The home I worked in was controlled by a clique of workers who bullied others not in their group. Lots of corner cutting in many areas. For safety inspections, boxes were just ticked off without carrying out the inspection. Not much training offered. No increase in staffing when new high needs clients move in. Clients in some homes not compatible with each other.

The clients were fun to be with and the best part of the job.

being in this company ,I had a great time.even we know that being in a group homes, with people who are disabled and mentally problem is a big challenge to every care aide..but for me if you have passion,in every work you choose there is no impossible ,for you to enjoy it and manage well,

it does not matter how long you work there,seniority is not important. whats important is who the manager likes. the union is also non effective, they dont ahow up at all for any reason, they just must take ur money every 2 weeks

The clients are easy to deal with, They are really nice respectful, calm and always happy 😃. Some of the managers are awful, they don’t know what they are doing in terms of solving employees issues or reports

Do not work for this company, the managers are very lazy and don't take your side with anything you say. This job is very emotionally draining, it feels as you are a taxi driver driving your clients place to place. You aren't even paid for the extra miles, very draining job.

This company looks better from the outside. The manager was demeaning and only cared about billable hours. The health and safety of the client didn’t seem to matter and the tone of management was two faced. Much like other profit before people companies, they aim to be divisive. They claim to be all about the client and their rights, but don’t bother to get to know the clients they serve.

Very unprofessional and abusive place to work. Its for profit so clients interests are not taken into account. Employees are treated like garbage very poor wages even with experience, bad hours, poor management, poor training, no breaks, overworked and management makes tons of mistakes. You have to check every cheque as they will rip you off hours. Clients are treated badly and nothing is done in their best interest. Money is their focus and constantly put people in danger as training and competency of management and staff is very poor. They somehow pass acredidation even though nothing is up to code.no future for employees and they do not offer any further training for anyone to advance. They make you pay out of your own pocket for updating first aid or any other training. You will be treated as something disposable as an employee and and your needs and complaints are not taken into account.i have worked for many companies serving clients and this is by far the worst, do not let your loved ones be cared for by this company.

Do not waste your time, they do not support staff or any opportunity to grow within the agency. The environment is stressful and the management does not care about the clients. Pay is minimal and hours are flexible but chaotic.

This company didn’t allow for any meal breaks including lunch or coffee. They conveniently scheduled your day so you would be driving to/meeting with clients over lunch so you are forced to eat while driving. There are absolutely no coffee breaks. You are required to use your personal phone to interact with clients and they do not repay you. When a client was innapropriately text messaging me at 9 at night the company didn’t support me at all and said I should just allow it. They are too afraid to lose CLBC contracts so they cater to their clients’ every desire without considering their staff.

Thompson Community Services provides care for those with disabilities. Some require around-the-clock services, while others need limited support. As a community support worker you will work shifts in-house with clients, cook, clean and assist in financial/employment matters while encouraging the clients to be independent and in control of their own path.
