Untruthful management
Wages lower then promised, charged $36 a day to stay in Thomp camp, mechanics stayed free, only management friends had work and stayed busy even in qualified people over experienced, management is very unorganized, saftey is very low, staff being fired for false accusations,if you start a WCB claim you will be fired 100% as soon as returned to work duties, terriable people in management

Poor management. Equipment was fair. To many brown noses. To many people riding on coat tails to better them selves even when they had no idea what they were doing

Hostile Old Fashioned Boys Club
Industrial group is in constant turnover intimidating people to quit or rarely keeping people long term that fit in to the hostility and negative environment. Company operates on a verbal and very old fashioned approach putting majority of work and people at risk as updated vital information is hard to come by.

A normal place to work
a normal construction company to work for, nothing special. They don't really care a lot about their employee, doesn't matter how good or bad you are. doesn't matter if you are foreman or operator. Don't know if you got a job from day to day

By far the worst Company I've ever worked for!
Where to start.
- A full day of orientation courses at home with no pay. (Ok no big deal)

- No benefits till after 3 month (Ok I can handle that)

- 1st day or 2 No pay for company training at their location in Fort Mac. (huh? Seriously! Ya, nooo pay)

-. The foreman don't even introduce themselves, give direction at all, and they all act like they're better that you.

- You'll be assigned to some junky piece of equipment like a duck and given no direction even if you've never operated it before. You'll be hired for hoe, or Dozer etc and end up on the bus or a duck or labourer or an old cat with no radio for 12 hours. If you say that you were hired for something else, they. Will say oh well. Then if you say you quit then they threaten you with no camp or flight home to try and get you to stay. Then if you say you'd still like to leave.and fly yourself they will threaten you with a Suncor site ban. The basics are 14/7 leave camp at 515 and back at 7. 12 hours pay with only 2 20min breaks.

Productive work atmosphere where everyone helps each other move.up and forward
For my 2 years working with Thompson bros I found it to be like a family after the first 2 weeks since you are gone from home for.so.long.you build friendships and bonds with your coworkers as they spend more time.with you then family does :) all around great.palce to work from the meals at the camp to the actual job there was no idle time and you where always let known ahead of time.what you would be doing :)
Pros
Pay, accommodations, the people you work with, managment
Cons
Long hours and time away from home.

Unless you're sleeping with someone higher up, you get nowhere & the pay is 👎
The turnover is ridiculous. They play favorites where equipment & pay is concerned. Management is famous for their lies & empty promises.
I was loyal to Thompson Bros. for years & they screwed me over good... Liars!

Would not recommend!
Very unorganized company! Barely able to supply coveralls for you daily. Extreme lack of training and no safety! Worked 12 hr night shifts after my second set on site with no lunch breaks. Coworkers were great but nothing else was worth recommending

Relaxed work environment, camp fully equipped
Pros:
Great supervisors and management, relaxed work environment,

equipment is well maintained, camp is clean, not over crowded, and food is good.

Cons:

Camp or flights not included, starting wage could be higher, not the largest equipment

Low moral
Here is a company that really doesnt appreciate its workers it is a low paying company , why do u think Sun allows them on there site , Sun gives out there contracts to the lowest bidder , Sun gives out a big bonus every few months , Thompson Bros , takes half of it and the other half , well u r lucky to see any of that too , u cant even remember names , that is how fast people leave that place, supervisors bully and threaten u with your job , threaten u to do all paper work properly, or no bonus , when it is bonus time , u will not get it , company is very greedy and cheap , equipment is very rough , but u can always talk to a Sun representative, to get matters straightened out and fast , and thompson bros get nervous when u threaten them back with Sun representatives, this company must have exhausted itself from INDEED by now lol , i swear every operator has been through their doors , revolving doors ...bahahaha
Pros
Meet good operators
Cons
Supervisors who think they r god, phffft

This is one of the most horrible companies you could ever work for your job is always on the line no matter who you are unless you brown nose your way up most of the Foreman's are useless I would not recommend anybody to work for this company unless you only want to keep your job from a few days to maybe a few months and then they will get rid of you
Pros
Fly in fly out job
Cons

Most fellow employees are great, except the ones that sucks up to the boss.
Low wages compared to most, just a number unless you brown nose management. Poor leadership and communication amongst supervisors themselves, all have a different way to do same job.never let people just do their job, always a superintendent or foreman criticizing or bird dogging you at all times,if your not on the good side your always being scrutinized.equipment is ,for the most part,in fair to good quality, maintenance is up to par.
Pros
SOME decent foreman’s
Cons
Pay for camp, screw you out of overtime at start of shift

Unorganized.
Management is very unorganized. A lot of the time the operator has to fend for themselves. lowest wages in the industry. job security is always in question.
