fun but not an optimal location
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Saskatoon, SK4 September 2019
it was a fun place to work. really good co-workers but the location was not good for sales on regular days. Holidays were our good sale days which should be the norm.

Amazing place to work in an excellent location. The store management, along with the entire district are incredibly motivating, and inspiring to even the seasonal employees. Definitely recommend working for this company.

Very poor place to work at
Customer Care / Help Desk (Former Employee) –  Barrie, ON20 August 2019
Nobody knows what they are doing. There are a selective few that are fantastic but they are dwarfed by the amount of people who lack skill-sets.

The core values are thrown out the windows, managers do what they want and don't hold themselves accountable to scheduling, or adhere to attendance. They lack support and knowledge and many of the staff were the ones dictating the show.

promised wage increases and commissions that never happen
Pros
there are none
Cons

bad company doesnt care about employees
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Barrie, ON19 August 2019
do not recommend working for this nightmare of a company at all, worked here for 4 years and the lack of care for employees is ridiculous, barely any room for growth in the company, part time employees working full time hours without the benefits and don't get comfortable you could work almost full time hours for a year or more and then be cut back to 15/week cause you're a part time and they don't owe you anything, no financial security or peace of mind. I have also seen a few stores close and employees and management were let go with no notice what so ever not to mention management are not aloud to be references so good luck finding a new job even with 4 years of experience having no one to speak to that is garbage. And of course cant forget the constant pressure to sell bell and reach targets, nothing you do will ever be good enough you can hit your targets and they still want more, the sales tactics are so pushy and unrealistic, they expect you to sell multiple services to every customer and it makes a lot of customer interactions awkward no matter how good at sales you are, I've seen so many customers get uncomfortable and just try to leave with management shoving stuff down their throat. Maybe if your a uni student and looking for a seasonal gig go for it but if your looking for a career keep looking!!

SALES ASSOCIATE (Current Employee) –  Dauphin, MB19 August 2019
Working here every day is pretty fun with co-workers and sales is also a very great part of it.

A typical day at work starts with learning about the promotions and sales going on and work on it.

Reasonable place to work
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Barrie, ON17 August 2019
The Source offers decent benefits, pay (minimum with the opportunity for raises & commission), and depending on which store you are in and your manager, flexible hours. Great job for post-secondary students.

High expectations to sell cellphones and residential services, commissions are nice and if that is a strength you can make decent money even as part-time.

Stores where associates are not fighting over commissions make this a really fun job, but the atmosphere can be toxic when people fight over customers.

Slow times of the year can be very stressful as there are punishments for not meeting sales targets, up to and including termination, so having a rough spring leading into the slower summers can be stressful.

I strongly recommend this company/job if you are a competitive but team-focused person. Lone wolves will struggle to make friends and can be excluded.

The job was very interesting with a very diverse staff. The manager was understanding, responsible and cared about his job very much. He supervised everyone himself and made sure all staff are getting their jobs done.

Great Place to Manage - High Standards
Manager (Current Employee) –  Alberta, Canada24 July 2019
The Source is a great place to work as a manager as long as you are comfortable with constantly being held accountable for and holding others accountable for high standards and constant results. Solid pay as long as you are skilled and work hard enough to earn bonusus in comparison to other retail management jobs. Great organisation, although they admittedly seldom terminate any employees without it being a termination "with cause", so it is not a job for those who are unsure about their abilities to be successful in sales-quota based retail management position. They also expect you to be extremely well-balanced and diverse, and require you to built a team of people who are also well-rounded (but particularily sales-oriented or money driven people). If you have a weak stomach for driving people to be successful and parting ways with them if they are unable to meet the company's standards, then this is also not the job for you. It is a great job for people who are driven and are willing to work hard to make money and be successful.
Pros
Pretty solid pay when bonuses factor in, solid benefits, large opportunity to move or grow your career in retail
Cons
Extremely high standards, high (but decreasing) turnover rate

Decent but management is a joke
Sales Associate/Acting Manager (Former Employee) –  Bathurst, NB15 July 2019
Where I worked we had no manager for 3/4 of my time there. Management issues fell on the shoulders of senior most associate with no pay raise or benefits to speak of. Our advancement or firing was judged on a scale of how you much you sold versus your target. They didn’t take into consideration if we had slow days only slow numbers. The only saving grace were my coworkers but they quit because of the downfalls. Nothing at this job was guaranteed and if you needed help better call someone and hope they answer.

Cons
Targets, management

Badly chosen management/ horrible quota
SALES ASSOCIATE (Current Employee) –  Kingsville, ON8 July 2019
Overall i disliked my experience there, your schedule is over 3 weeks+ in advance and you have sales quotas that are very unreasonable to some extents, I found that they promoted salesmen over leaders, Just because you are good at selling doesn't mean you should run or manage a store.
Pros
Laidback environment on some occasions
Cons
Unpredictable hours

Not exactly my dream place to work
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Toronto Zoo, ON27 June 2019
I came in at a low rank so it was difficult to tell and i didnt get to probation. Too much focus on sell sell it was affecting my morale. Too much competition amongst staff it was becoming unhealthy! Colleagues practically fighting over customers for target and commison sake...

I couldn't thrive in such an almost toxic environment...

A very cell/cable/satellite sales centered company.
Commission sales (Former Employee) –  Summerside, PE12 June 2019
The only thing this company wants out of their employees is to push customers into contracts. Lied to about benefits, lied to about position in store and when 6 months of working full time comes around paperwork says part time...
Constantly changing the commission structure as well. 4 times in 1 year... Crazy...
Can do thousands of dollars in physical sales but if you don't sell cell phones, satellite, or cable you have to write full essays on why and how your going to improve...
All this constant badgering of customers means no traffic in the stores...
Pros
Light work, low customer amount
Cons
Commission centered, terrible culture, uncaring higher ups only worried about their commission...

Overall it's been a great experience
Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Midland, ON9 June 2019
The Source does an incredible job of helping sales associates succeed in store. The training and ongoing opportunities and bonuses make it engaging everyday you go to work. The manager at the Midland location is always level headed and fair in how he handles employee needs.
The biggest struggle I've faced is trying to enter the corporate field of the company. For some reason the internal communication regarding moving associates to corporate when they have the qualifications is quite poor or so I've found.
Pros
Work/Home life balance, Commission structure, contests and opportunities.
Cons
Internal hiring process.
