Reviews about Pay & benefits for Case Worker at The Salvation Army

my co-workers were wonderful people ,

typical day is very busy (phone calls, walk-ins) you have to learn on the run ,management doesn't have time for you most of the time, the culture is friendly and most co-workers are Christian. They hire you for one job and have you do another because of funding.

free lunch for employee, nice co-workers, community programs (angel tree, clothing bank, food bank)

no training, low pay

Great place to be to help the community

The job is very rewarding in that you get to be the first contact for people needing help. You are a vital part of the team and are treated as such. The hardest part of the job is the multitasking you will have to do. You will leave everyday feeling if you made a difference in someone's life.

Great Mission but run like an army

Loved working here and getting to work with homeless population. One of the few shelters that takes in entire families and I always took great pride in getting to help so many people. I always came home so grateful for the things I had and it really helped me have a more grateful, kind, and empathetic disposition. However it is a very strict work environment and very micromanaged- if you are used to working in the army maybe it won't bother you. You cannot come in early or leave late, even if there is an emergency with residents or you get in trouble. They watch you on the cameras and make sure you arrive and leave when you say you do. Unfortunately the pay was terrible and I was not able to pay my bills on the salary or else I would have stayed.
