Laid-back and casual environment

A typical day at the thrift store was very calm and nonchalant. Employees did their best with helping customers find what they need and were very happy with assisting those with disabilities. All merchandise were put into their respective areas and the store was always clean. I learned quite a bit while working there. I learned to socialize more and respect store policy. I even made some friends that I would love to see again. The hardest part of the job was keeping everything organized. It was difficult keeping the clothing racks tidy, since there were times where I was getting tired of standing and sorting through all the mixed up clothing. However, the most enjoyable part of the job was gaining new experiences. I loved how I got to meet new people, make friends and create new memories. I especially like how nice everyone was on my first day.

Pros

Cheap prices, cool merchandise

Cons

Messy clothing racks (sometimes)

Community service review

It is a good place to get community service done, the staff there were very friendly and they will accept any who come there. If you are a student in need of doing some community service hours to get your resume, this would be a great place to do so.

great place to donate merchandise and purchase amazing finds

co-workers were very helpful and understanding, very kind and patient, they shared their professional opinion and advised me in ways to improve my quality of work The hardest part of the job was learning the different ways to attract customers through proper advertisement of merchandise I learned to be patient and understanding, to understand the customer's perspective in order to provide the best, immediate help. The most enjoyable part of the job is building strong relationships with both the co-workers and the clients The store was very well managed, the employees all shared duties and responsibilities and depended on each other to create an open, functional and expressive environment, it felt like being part of a family

Pros

flexible break schedule

Cons

slight unsanitary conditions

Great time working with people and handling donations.

I spent quite a few days/weeks volunteering at the thrift shop on Brock during the summer of 2013 and enjoyed it very much. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. I worked very hard, most days working through my break. At the beginning it was 4 hours a day, but then I asked for 5 and then 6 and so on because I felt I wanted to get more done. I enjoyed helping their very much and a lot of the employees and some of the customers complimented me on how hard I worked. It made me enjoy the work environment and some of the benefits were if something was going in the trash because of their regulations or it was too old to sell, if I asked, I could take it home. For example, two Dan Brown books (Angels and Demons/The Divinci Code) and speakers for a computer.

Pros

All of the employees were very nice, the customers were nice and the benefits/amount of hours I could work was great.

Cons

There were other volunteers, so when I went to go set up days to come in, sometimes the days I wanted were taken.
