Office politics can make this place an uncomfortable spotBe prepared to work a lot this place is not easy. They can flood you with patients and you will be stuck doing paperwork for hours

It was great in the beginning, but became a nightmare at the end.

What is the best part of working at the company? The pay was acceptable, a lot of the employees were friendly. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Nonstop calls to the service deskWhat is the work environment and culture like at the company? At first it was great. But when covid broke they were completely unreasonable people to deal with. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Nonstop calls for computer and software support

Usually decent

Working on a busy inpatient unit. Co-workers have all been very kind and helpful. Management changes about once every one to two years due to the inherent demands a busy inpatient unit brings. Overall a pretty good place to work.

Decent workplace

Pays good, people are nice. I found that training could be hit or miss, I was put on some shifts I was not trained for. Can be quite physically exhausting but overall a good job

Great workplace but pay is low

Amazing workplace with everyone really nice and willing to help one another. However, the pay is rather low and it is difficult to move up in position.

Rewarding employment with great benefits

Love working here, great team (depends where you work). Great salary/benefits, clearly important for retention. Many opportunities to change units/depts, lits of learning and training.

Great work environment

Great work environment and supportive staff. Also great pay, and time off. Interesting work with the possibility to work in different units. I would suggest working here as a social worker

Good work environment

Co workers were friendly and management was supportive. The job itself can be challenging but there is a good team supporting you. Only downside is that there aren’t many growth opportunities

Diverse career opportunities but challenging times ahead..

Blessed with the opportunity for career growth in diverse settings. Current healthcare climate creates acquisition and retention issues due to increased need for work life balance.

Best adult hospital to work at

Although the hospital is difficult at times, it is the best of all the adult hospitals in the region. Not a perfect workplace but if you have to work at a hospital it’s the best (other than CHEO of course).

RPN's now required to do RN skills, no compensation

Nice coworkers, nice manager, compensation for work very disheartening since RPN's now required to do RN skills... When hired it was a very positive "nurse-first" language but it was wild to attend the skills classes for the RN skills we weren't permitted to do before, because they are very straight forward. So why not compensate us, why not bridge us on the job? It is true an RPN like myself with 5 years of bedside experience prior to this job may be more prepared for an unstable patient than a new grad RN hire, so there should be better compensation if the expectations are going to change.

No formal training department or process

I feel there is a need of formal training department and documents to make you fit for the job. Also there should be designated transition period with defined goals after training. So that new joinee can move smoothly without being over stressed. You feel left out to sail in sea after few days of joining. Too much of pressure to handle without training department who are professional and know how to do their job.

Pros

management is good

Cons

no professional training department, high job expectations.

Very repetitive, but good pay and benefits

Base pay and benefits are good, but you start out as a casual without most benefits, but with a 14% pay increase in lieu of. Work is very repetitive, but most of the supervisors are decent and are there to offer any tool you need to do the job.
