It’s a good environment to work in. Paid decently and you get to know a lot of people. Great teachers and an overall great place to work. A lot of locations and room to grow as well.

Excellent learning opportunity in a growing company
During my years at the Miller Group, I learned a great deal about highway maintenance and operations. The work culture has significantly changed over the course of my career as the company was bought by Colas - a company from Paris, France. There is little regard for work life balance and there is poor support from upper management.

Great place to work.
A great place to work. Spend a lot of time away from home, coworkers are great people and easy to get along with. The workers will teach you everything you need to know if you show interest in the job.

Unorganized
Not a healthy place to work
No formal training. Get in the trick and go.

They will let anyone drive even if they shouldn’t be driving. Allot of special treatment for friends of the manager.

Favourite company to work for
The miller group is the most professional, organized and well rounded company I have ever worked for. You can tell the core morality of the business is what they truly care about and it shows in the happiness of the everyone that works there. Would love the opportunity to work with them again. The owners are great people.

management is out to get you at every turn.do not want to work with you or the union to make things better.if you miss your break too bad keep going unless you stand your ground.it is always the drivers fault if you are late during your run other factors do not matter.inspectors and trainers are good.

This review is for highway maintenance/Line paint division , Easily the best job I’ve had in years , up to date training ,safety was the number 1 priority, great equipment , well maintained equipment , lots of hours in the summer and winter , management that cares about you and your family and will work around appointments you may have to make sure you get there , room for advancement and you are always treated fairly.

What a joke!!!! There all in bed together just a bunch of back stabbing two faced uneducated morons. That’s in the Cochrane and timmins area. Back door deals happening with the supervisor and contractors. Getting there hands greased.

Decent place with some advancement opportunities if you are smart
Long hours in which you have to live away from home because you are never sure what municipality the company's business will get. You make big pay cheques but you are up at 5 most days working until between 6 and 10 at night four days a week. Fridays are usually shorter to allow time to drive home. You also live out of a hotel each week, but can make north of a thousand dollars after taxes per week.

Horrible culture, with terrible safety record.
This review is specific to the line-painting division of Millers. It was easily the most offensive culture I've ever worked in. Where racism, nepitism, profanity, vulgarity and proposed adultery was the language. The whole group flagrantly violated every safety rule in the book with regards to chemical handling. A complete disregard for smoking in the workplace rules. It was a terrible, terrible experience working with these people.

Local management does not lead by example - and are not trustworthy
Senior managers tend to micromanage and override their foremen and then complain about results without taking responsibility for decisions management made. They talk a good talk but don’t take action to support. So proud of their COR certification yet coverup or minimize incidents to protect key people. Double standards- one for the full time “office/shop staff” and another for the seasonal workers who are working long hours away from home. Little to no training for new hires - yet expect fantastic results. No respect for employees - they are “a dime a dozen” “lazy” “only here because no one else would hire them” and they wonder why they have such turnover!

most of the time work hours are reasonable yet depending on weather conditions can get very hectic and not be able to get breaks and some days are more than 14 hours you do not get paid for lunch break even though you do not get one.

There so much wrong with this company, how is it still in business it amazes me.

No teamwork!!!!! (Be part of a great team)

Poor trainer.

Poor management. (best managed company though)

Nice equipment (always breaks down)

Communication is to be desired (threats on a daily basis)

Poor usage of authority or superiority

No job security.

Long hours. ( OT after 55 hours)

Half unionized ( road crews are ,plant/yard personnel are not)

You need 2 years to gets benefits ( not 90 days)

Discrimination isn't well hidden

Customer service in certain location doesnt exist ( but it could just answer the phone)



Had a better relationship with the contractors than my own team. Day by day motivation to work there was leaving. Everyone is me, myself and I, from the lead, the foremen all the way to management... would add more but you get the point.

Trainers in this company don't like when there is an experienced bus driver, as they don't fully speak English as trainee's have a hard time understand the trainers.

They don't like experienced bus drivers as it makes them look lower than they are, even if you wish to stay as a Bus Operator, not a trainer.
