Internal advancements and smiling faces

Featured review

The Erb Group of Companies selected this as a representative review
A great place to work if you want a challenge and to absorb an abundance of transferable knowledge. The employees I work with, both within my department as well as outside have been nothing but kind and accepting. Erb is unique as they truly value growth from within, by encouraging internal movement.

Long Term Employees treated poorly - high turn over rate

This company was once great to work for, but you are no longer treated like family but as an employee number. There is a high turn over rate, which puts pressure on the long term staff to pick up the slack. The wages stay stagnant once you have been working here a few years . There are a few very good managers here and even they are feeling the shift in how things are operated. A good chunk of the managers have huge egos, but don't know how to perform tasks within their department to help out. The managers also put blame on other departments and be little them . They have lost touch with the fact we are all playing for the same team. You will also see other departments receive new equipment and others using bandaid solutions to keep things working. If you want entry level experience in transportation or office administration duties this is the only positive for working here. Put a year in and move on to better things, as this ship is sinking fast.

Pros

Great for learning basics of transportation

Cons

Management is mostly arrogant- few good ones, your just another employee number, pay is low, departments are blaming eachother for issues, no sense of unity

Insights into The Erb Group of Companies

Based on 55 survey responses
What people like
  • Ability to meet personal goals
  • Feeling of personal appreciation
  • Time and location flexibility

Friendly staff but poor training process.

They are right on top of their game, everyone has at least 10 years of experience working there, some had 20, 30 years. Friendly staff at the Montreal terminal. They need to adjust their training program for new employees and it will be a lot better if they will get something like Samsara ELD tracking to provide their customers with live GPS tracking.

Pros

Good working environment

Cons

Poor training process.

Great Co-workers, lousy management

co-workers were great, they are friendly and appreciate your efforts which is great because management couldn't care less about your effort. Leaving was not because of work, type or load, or pay, but entirely on poor management.

Pros

Good benefits package

Cons

Poorly managed. Most managers have anger managment issues and HR is useless

Working with receivers!

Try and have a positive attitude when you arrive at your destination. What ever you can do to make your job easier, try it. I have a great rapport with my customers. If I need a favour like un-stacking a skid for my next delivery, being a polite and respectful person goes a long way in this business. Erb is a great company to work for and with. Thanks. “245 Here” .

Pros

Good people

Cons

Need more experienced drivers

Safe space to learn & grow!

I was new in my field when I applied here. I wasn't confident in myself and nearly gave up on myself. I applied anyways and I'm so happy I did. I have grown so much in just one year. I went from feeling like I wasted money on my diploma to being confident in my abilities and a real asset to my team. This is such a safe space to learn and grow. I have a fantastic manager that strives to help her team learn and keep us in high spirits. This is the best job I have ever had, and I don't plan on leaving any time soon.

Pros

Hybrid Positions available. Yearly company BBQ's.

Cons

Difficult to commute without a vehicle.

Too much nepotism

My time working here started off fairly inviting. I was promised a lot early on. There was always something new to learn. That was until conflict of interest came into play, where a relative of the manager complained that I was getting too many hours. This started a snowball effect where I was punished for simply wanting to work more. My hours were cut back just because the manager wanted to keep their relative in higher standing with the company. This level of conflict of interest is unacceptable as it was against policy which I read over after signing to get on. There was way too much nepotism and everyone turned a blind eye. I now see why this place has a turnover of employees.I left feeling cheated and disrespected after driving through blizzards and commuting every day (even when some of the local employees would stay in due to bad weather). I will never work for this company again they are undeserving of good workers and prefer to keep lousy people in management.

Pros

Welcome package

Cons

Too much nepotism, hostile work environment, mentally unwell workers

Decent people. Dispatch was good and helpful.

I liked people that I worked with . Canadian dispatch was good and helpful. Looked after any issues I had while on road quickly .manager is not in touch with drivers and doesn’t look after them very well . Never talk to employees about any grievances filed they seem to be pushed under the rug without being resolved .

Pros

Decent income overall

Cons

Management is out of touch with drivers

Best Canadian Company for A Trucker for Long haul or local work

Best place to work for , they are always ready to help and support their employees and safety is their first priority. Steady work and no forced work. I wanted to work for them but I moved to Alberta, I will for sure work with them again, once they start their facilities in Alberta.

Pros

Great place to work - Office employee

Great place to work, the ,managers would always help in your coaching and advancement. They have open door policy, you can speak about your concerns with the managers or HR department. The employees are very welcoming.

Pros

Great Benefits, Supportive Management, Progressive career, Open Door policy, training and Coaching at job, Support education, Work life balance, Free Massages, Counselling Services, Company lunches

Cons

Favoritism, Some departments has workplace politics, employees feel they aren't heard very well by their managers, it depends on the team you work in and your managers can affect how you are going to feel, The head office at New Hamburg is a great place to work for, the managers are really supportive in your career growth.

I love working at The Erb Group of Companies, my colleagues are nice and engaging

I like my job, it is fast pace but I like it because it keeps you going and next thing you know your day is done. My colleagues are nice and the work environment is pleasant. Work culture needs improvement, it seems each department is their own island. Training would benefit from improvement. The hardest part of the job is trying to please all customers when the operations is complicated and there are several aspects that are out of our control, such as weather to name one.

Pros

Good benefits

Cons

Training needs improvement

Erb's atmosphere is so similar to the TV show Cheers!

Everyone at Erb is so welcoming, and friendly. I couldn't ask for a better group of people to work with every day. One of my favorite parts is how much they care about things happening locally, its so refreshing to be part of a company that really does care.

Pros

They really cared about their employees. I pray for ERB

Pros
