Registered Nurse in Abbotsford, BC

It's all about money
There is no overtime pay, even if you work 16 hrs straight or 7 days straight. They will harass you to work even if you are sick because no one can replace you. Also there's too much expectations on your role with minimal support from management. There is no job security at all and you can be fired anytime if the owner "doesnt like you".
Housekeeping in Vancouver, BC

Appearances Matter more than Staff and Client-Centeredness
Facility is modern and spotless, they do hire nice staff that work very hard in all departments. However there’s No work culture, or HR/communication structure exist for residents, families and staff to give feedback on living or working there. When I asked or agree to work over time was not rewarded overtime pay, and other departments report same experience - management defends “because not unionized”. Regard for resident satisfaction varies. It is well seen and known here if you know the owner you benefit. Turnover is high because respect not given to positions thought lower than upper management, again communication network a huge deficit and many staff share they feel ideas are disregarded or rejected even when client centred. Really just a top down managed business rather than client centred care home.
Health Care Aide/recreation in Abbotsford, BC

Strong favoritism especially in other departments.time will tell
Other departments hire workers with no certificates or diploma that’s why they do the lousiest job and it’s ok with them . Recreation department is worse with favoritism..
Health Care Aide in Abbotsford, BC

Work anywhere else but here
The only things nice about this place to work is the building itself and the residents. Management does not care about the staff, the salary does not match what is expected of you, there is no respect for care aides, and don't even bother thinking you can trust your co-workers. They are basically in the back pocket of the person who does the hiring. Worst of all, there is no actual care going on. It's "do your job quickly and with as little staff as possible". The residents get little to no care beyond what is required in the ADL's.

needs time management
you need to manage your time to be able to prepare and serve the food for the senior people on time. you have to make sure you give the diet for them.
