The Brick Ltd. is one of Canada's largest volume retailers of furniture, mattresses, appliances and home electronics. The company was founded as The Brick Warehouse LP in Edmonton, Alberta with the first warehouse opening on September 1, 1971. Its first expansion was to Fort McMurray, Alberta in the 1970s and later acquired a competitor in the city of Calgary.

Over the past 35 years, The Brick has expanded across Canada and now operates 194 retail stores (including 20 franchise locations) in the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories. (Quebec stores are branded simply as Brick.) In addition, the Brick Group Income Fund operates distribution centres in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal.

In March 2004, the company acquired United Furniture Warehouse which had 81 locations throughout Canada at the time.[2] In 2006, 24 stores were rebranded as "The Brick" in a strategic attempt to save on advertising costs and increase sales.

On November 11, 2012, The Brick announced that competitor Leon's would acquire the company for $700 million subject to approval of shareholders. Following the acquisition, Leon's plans to maintain the two separate chains.

reasonable hours, great training from management and they were with me every step of the way however they missed a couple of things, extremely friendly management. Software was extremely outdated though.

Employees are great bit the hours can be unstable
You could have eeks straight of 40 hours and then end up with no work for a month. I was a full time employee and was let go because of regional budget but was led on for a month waiting for if I'd get a call back

Toxic.
While professing a people centred culture online, the reality is profit at the expense of people. The senior leadership has a disdain for the working class and the lateral violence that is foundational in the corporate culture has created a toxic environment that has people leaving in droves for places that will treat them like human beings. The corporate environment is literally causing people ...

Rewarding for selective Sales Consultants only
The sales consultants are the only people who have the potential to make money, but there is no work life balance for them either. Operations and Sales Managers make very mediocre salaries, and unless you are in one of the big stores, your base income is almost shameful. The customer service team is in too much pressure and aren’t treated / paid fairly, the merch staff is mostly trainees or studen...

Good place to work
If you like people and are good at sales it’s a decent job. Get commissions and there are selling bonuses on selling certain items ex:model of mattress gets you an extra $100. Special pillows $20 each one. They change all the time
