For the ambitious, hard-working types

Techo-Bloc is family run and that's what I loved about it. If you have good ideas, you work hard and show loyalty and dependability, the owners recognize it and want to see you succeed. They're encouraging, invest in you, the tools you need and the ideas and solutions you bring forward. It's very open, not very formal or hierarcal. There's really no career stifling bosses that make it because the owners are involved and you get face time with them. It's a very sales culture from the inside out. You need to be able to sell your ideas internally and prove you can execute. Upper and middle management is filled with colourful, passionate personalities. Conversations and meetings get heated sometimes but it gives everyone a chance to speak their mind.
You learn a lot
It's so big that changes become difficult to implement across the company

Nepotism & Micro Management

Techo-Bloc makes nice landscape products and is very appealing from the outside.

Inside the walls of the building is a different story. A family run company the owner has the final say in every decision made. Papers and projects sit on desks for weeks, months and sometimes forever. Managers (often relatives, cousins, family friends) will routinely yell and belittle employees. If you have a choice in where to work do not come to Techo-Bloc. The low employee morale, lack of opportunity and frustration will have you running to the door at 5pm. You work 40 hours a week with 2 forced weeks at Christmas. Most departments are understaffed with 2-3 people per office.

The manager I had was completely unqualified for his job, Did not have the experience or the education. Being a friend of the family helped.

On the good side you can look forward to a yearly increase in salary and a Christmas bonus.

Owners need to hire proper management team and STOP controlling every micro-move.
