You get a little badge to carry everyday while you are out there sticking your neck out for nothing. Do a great job for 5 years and it is blown away by a complaint from one of the directors manufacturing buddies,Stay in private industry - the pay is better and you won;t be stuck in limbo working for a non- government entity that claims to be a not-for profit. Chuckle.
This so called "not for profit' agency is out of control. They have lost sight of why they were formed in 1997. It was supposed to be a "cheaper" more in touch way of delivering inspection services to the public. The only groups that have benefited are the trade unions. TSSA managers show no shame in doling out there likes of companies on their facebook page. How is that not a conflict of interest. ? The reality is they are all planning their next career move and using their position to provide favours to the manufacturing sector and pave the way for their next move. Where is the oversight of this high turnaround, mismanaged dogs breakfast
it;s a job
working with inexperienced inspectors and managers
No clear direction from MGMT. No one can explain what they want and everyone does what they want so you constantly redo the same work forever hoping it's what someone wants. For technical resources, this is a difficult job since no one knows what you do but will try to estimate your time for you and undervalue your efforts. Constant turnover means anyone can disappear tomorrow. Everyone is use to that so no one expects you to stay. Underpays for technical people
Good people that mean well
No direction, lots of turnover, lots of rework, underpays
This company has no idea of their objectives. Theres no good direction. Management is really bad. Nepotism is at highest degree. Everyone keeps getting fired. Management make fake promises to get work done.
I worked for the TSSA for one year just after the privatization from the Technical Standards Division of the MCCR. I had previously worked for the MCCR (Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations) for 9 years. The TSSA was formed as a result of the Harris governments desire to break OPSEU, lower wages, rob people of seniority and bully employees in the absence of a union. Once the union was gone, the managers showed their true colours The TSSA is nothing more than a cash grab that should have been brought back in to government during the McGuinty years - but he was all talk. They (TSSA) preach public safety but the reality is that they are really a FOR profit "organization" that has a bunch of overpaid directors from the private sector telling them what should be done to line their nests. Who really owns the TSSA ?? I know whose pocket they are in - UA
inept management, back stabbing, double standards
I worked there for several years! Co workers are incredible and the employee culture is great. Management has not a clue what they are doing. They spend their entire day in their offices gossiping about everyone ( i know this, as i have sat through it) Specifically, in the Intake/customer service area. The manager/supervisor there, has her favourites and if you are not one of them, she will go to the moon and back to make your life miserable....forcing you out! I quit and numerous others quit because of her!!! The pay is ok, but not worth the misery and poor treatment. Side note: you will ONLY move UP if you have family there or are a favourite ! Not ever because of your work ethic or overall performance. Oh and you must be dead to take a sick day!!!
Wonderful co workers
Poor Management, no work life balance, no room for fair advancement
The workload is not balanced properly due to major lack of management knowledge of what goes on in their own area. Good employees are punished with more work, lazy workers get special accomodations. Don't waste your time.
No room for advancement, poor management
pro: they will spend the money to train you salary is good stable job con: work is non stop no overtime pay lots of expectations although no directly asked impossible work load, bring work home all the time in attempt to meet deadlines but new work keeps coming to your desk, no one cares no work life balance, work will overtake your personal time expect to go on vacation as punishment when you come back to see piles of work waiting for you
sometimes free lunches
long hours, no overtime pay
