Always understaffed and pay is not good

Understaffed, underpaid, take forever to promote you, high sales targets, one person doing the work of three, profits over customer service and employee health.

Pros

Learn a lot about customer service and sales

Cons

Stressful environment, low pay

Inclusive bank

Very brand new to TD as well as retail banking industry. Overall the pay and benefits have been good. The staff is very friendly and there to help and support you. Will update the review as I spend more time in the company.

Not for me

It was an okay company to work for but it's not for me. As expected for a sales job, they want to see your numbers go up every single week. It seems that's the only thing that matters to the management... your numbers! I can't live life like that.

Room for advancement if you can meet your goals

Good work environment that provides you a place to learn and doesn't pile to much on you at once. Management is very dependent on your branch location, some managers are great some are not so great. Workplace culture is pretty laid back, everyone likes to help each other. Hardest part of the job is meeting your sales targets, but if you stick at it you can do it. The enjoyable part of the job is having an office and for the most part being left alone to work.

Thick skin required

After COVID people attitudes changed walking into a bank. 6/10 customers are now unbearably rude. A lot of the procedures we have to follow are extremely over the top making it almost impossible to provide the legendary customer service they expect you to provide…

the hardest part of the job

The TD working culture is very competitive. Lots of competition between you and your team. It is also hard for you to find a work-life balance when you move into a higher position.

Not enough pay

$16 an hour had benefits good if your looking into the. Banking industry many think it’s very fast paced and not that earning with the amount of work

Awful workplace

Terrible place to work. Employees underappreciated. Customers taken advantage of. Pay is so little yet the bank makes a ridiculous profit quarterly. Everything is awful at TD

Great benefits. Job security

My first year I really enjoyed working there. Had great colleagues and managers. A new manager came in and and everyone wants one. This manager will cost TD lots of employees.

Pros

Job security Benefits Sick pay days

Cons

Some managers discriminate No work and life balance Pressure for sales

Great workplace for students/part time opportunity

Started off in school as a part time CSR then moved my way up to Personal Banking Associate. Typical day is selling services to customers such as chequing account, savings, etc. Workplace culture is decent, employees for most part are okay but management can be hard to deal with sometimes. Lots of micromanagement.

Pros

Good benefits, paid time off

Cons

pay is low, sporadic work hours, open 7 days a week

Overall is not bad

I learned al lot...It depends on the branch and management team you are working for. Currently I have a very good team, so I feel I am valued.........

Growth opportunities are immense as long as you're willing to grow. Overall great experience!!

Its good to work for the bank to get first hand experience in financial sector. Culture is really nice and depends very much on your manager. If you work hard and have a nice manager. That's recipe for success. Favoritism is there but if you're working hard, it won't go unnoticed and they'll make every effort to grow you.

Pros

Many growth opportunities

Cons

Favoritism

Really depends which branch you end up at

Some branches are great, and some suck. It all depends where you end up. If you are looking to move up there are options but the pay upgrade is sad between roles. usually better to hop between banks

Pros

nice team, decent managers

Cons

sometimes bad managers

Managers can Make it or Break it

Td is a great place to start your career and there are many opportunities to move up! However that being said depending on your management you could be miserable working in the branch as some managers have no regard for your work as you will be interrupted and pulled in different directions even if you are working on something. Retail branches have no work/life balance and compensation does not seem worth the inconsistent work schedule. You will be expected to stay past your shift on a daily basis without any compensation or time back.

Pros

Potential for growth with supportive Management

Cons

No overtime, No time back, No work life balance

Pros

Cons

Management

Not as expected

Expect a manger to always be on you for more regardless of what you're doing, or if there is a pandemic. Sales targets have not changed at all from the pandemic. I have to explain to managers during a lockdown why we don't have more sales then last year... that is how smart your people manager will be.

Pros

Paycheck comes on time

Cons

Stressful environment. Unrealistic targets. You will be asked to do a lot that is not your job

Productive and fun place to work, the managers are always willing to support you

The managers are always willing to support your growth. Managers performance is tied to the performance of every single individual in the branch. So they are always looking out for you to succeed

Pros

Fast growth opportunities if you are flexible

Cons

Long hour during Thursdays and Fridays in some branches

Terrible Management

Management gets you to bring in a doctor’s letter if you’re sick indicating you have Covid symptoms but illness is unrelated to Covid to get you to come in. Very high turnover with staff at the branch I worked at. Horrible management that took 2+ hour lunch breaks and didn’t lift a finger when someone expressing they had Covid-19 entered the premises. Personal banking associate role was redundant. They should have never got rid of the FSR role.

Pros

Adequate salary, great team mates.

Cons

Awful management.
