Not unlike many of the companies in Calgary, there have been and continue to be job cuts. Even employees with superior performance ratings, like myself and several others, will likely eventually find themselves on the wrong project or in the wrong area of the company that gets cut. This also affects performance of current employees who are often on edge, concerned about the longevity of their current positions.
TransCanada hires the best overall people and generally treats them pretty well. Most of the company is committed to work-life balance and diversity initiatives. The pay is probably towards the higher end for most employers. the company has good benefits, pension plan, ergonomic assessments, etc.
As most managers hire for fit, there are little to no employee relationship problems or organizational "terrorists". The culture is very team-based and collaborative, and strong performance is often recognized.
