Nice place to work but salary is not worth it

If you are looking for a place to work with sweet old people and money is no object, this is the place to work. If you need to at the very least make a living wage to afford to live in Vancouver, look elsewhere. For the amount of work and dedication that is expected, the salary is way too low. The extended benefits are not good. There's also no tips, no commission, no year-end bonus. Even with such high revenue this company does not compensate their employees fairly.

Save yourself the time and do not work here

I loved this company for so long when I worked here... but that did not last long. The management will treat you poorly if you ever bring up any issues and every now and then head office will come down to sweet talk. Turnover is high because they do not respect work-life balance and there was constant overtime. Compensation was not worth the headache; no tips. Save yourself the time and apply literally anywhere else. I do love senior care and will continue to work with seniors, but at another company.

Great place to build connections with senior adults.

If you enjoy being around the elderly and helping than this is a great place. However, Management and the Corporate culture is about profits first and people second. Everyone is deemed as replaceable so there is no incentive for management to try and keep good employees. There is a lot of turnover at all tapestry communities and this speaks volumes to the culture of the organization.

No parking for staff, salaries below other facilities in the industry.

After working here for a couple of years I must say I've had nothing but growth within the company. I am lucky to have had this experience, and the opportunity to make bonds and connections within the community. If you are looking for a work environment that feels more like family and friends then this is the place.

Best Job Ever!

I feel like I truly lucked out finding this job. This past year I had the pleasure of covering a maternity leave position for Wellness Associate at Wesbrook Village. There are so many amazing things I can say about this job, but it really comes down to the people you work with. All the employees are amazing, it really feels like a family, everyone says "good morning" and "hello (name)" to one another everyday, everyone knows each other's names across all departments. Moreover, the residents are such a joy to work with. I had previous experience working with older adults and loved it so I knew I would enjoy working with older populations. The residents here are just incredible humans, so many amazing stories and wisdom from a lifetime surrounding you. It is a privilege to work with such inspiring people. In terms of the position of Wellness Associate, it is the dream job. You get to plan, organize and sometimes present in-house and external programing for the residents. There is a lot of flexibility with how you approach the job. Resident suggestions are encouraged and abundant, that being said, you still get the opportunity to focus on your strengths and what you can bring to the residents. For example, I am keen on meditation so I created an 8-week meditation and self-reflection course for the residents that I led. It ended up being a big hit amongst the residents so I ran the course again later in the year over the summer months. This was just one way I had the opportunity to personalize my job and share common interests with residents. All this being said there are always -

Productive and fun working with co workers and the residents

There are always pros and cons in every work place. This includes Tapestry At Wesbrook Village. But This the best place work I have so far. The management is very supportive, salary is good and we are also unionized. I love working with my friends here too.

Nice place to work to...the residents, the management and fellow staff were nice and pleasant...been with the company for five years already and i enjoy working here although there are some challenges at some time but still i am happy and grateful to be working here...i do always look forward for our activities that involve our residents and us staff like our morning glory exercise, our line dancing, pole walking exercise, pumpkin carving, ginger bread house decorating and even just cheering our residents on their seated volleyball tournament...

I am so blessed to find this opportunity to work with Tapestry. I never felt iam outside my home and family. Staffs are wonderful and are good team players. Management hears your concerns with respect. There are flaws but that just normal. There is no perfect people and company to work with. After my 16 years of employment in an Admin background, i decided to study a different field for a change and I found Tapestry as the place to work wherein I know I will be going to retire here, God permits. I am here more than 4 years. A positive outlook in life will always be helpful if you always look for improvement not only for yourself but for for others also especially the residents who are amazing and friendly. Great opportunity for employment.

I worked in the kitchen and it was a great experience. Scratch base cooking with daily soup, sandwich, lunch & dinner specials to go along with a world class menu. Easy going staff and chef and lots of guest interaction.

The team here at Arbutus Walk is just amazing! The best I have ever worked with. It is not easy to find a place where you feel welcome, people are caring, considerate, where everyone is willing to help and is striving for excellence. I found that here. Incredible work environment.Working with seniors is also very rewarding. When you see smiles on their faces even for things you could consider "small", everything makes sense and you feel purposeful.The leadership team is very supportive and opportunities for learning and growing are there to be explored if you are interested and willing.

Fulfilling & fun job, opportunity to advance

I worked at Tapestry for 6 years, mostly while going to University. Their priority was always the residents/seniors and the company has strong values around doing the right thing. I was promoted 3 times while working there and benefitted from lots of training and coaching. The health benefits are good and they paid much higher than any job I could find before I finished my degree (and after, actually). I had lots of fun working there and felt like I was making an impact everyday.

Leaving was really hard. You form strong bonds with residents and staff.
