I very much enjoyed working here. The union is very fair, but some people took advantage of that. You'll find that everywhere, however. The pay is very attractive, but you have to work for it, and if you're able to meet their ELS standards, you can make a lot of money.Moving into the office, you're no longer in the union, but your wage is more than adequate, and your benefits are the same. The RRSP and retirement packages are incredible.Management can be a little bit of an old boy's club, but if you can look past that, it's well worth it.
Free test kitchen lunches once a month, great pay, excellent benefits, good people to work with
Long hours, very tough physical work, lack of advancement
They are regionalizing and consider employees to be an expense rather than an asset. Long-term employees are dropping like flies
The company is goal is to get you to be super-efficient in your role and then they teacher process to another person and let you go. This is the company vision to regionalizeworking in the warehouse under the union is a good opportunity but working in the office with no support is challenging
Free food, good benefits
Long hours, demanding work load, unrealistic expectations, lack of support from management, no in-house training
daily checks, reports and inspections of inbound produce, maintaining product on hand and replies to all email inquires regarding product integrity. An increased product knowledge, keen eye for details and so much more learned from here. Close group of people that are fun to work with. Most enjoyable part of the job is the staff you get to work with and the staff pricing on products able to purchase.
free meals, staff pricing on goods, potential movement within company
potential on call, work sundays for rotation shifts
I stared at 7:00 am, picking up the money from the warehouse to reconcile vs documents and make the deposit to be send to the bank.
I stared at 7:00 am, picking up the money from the warehouse to reconcile vs documents and make the deposit to be send to the bank. Issued, timely and accurate invoices for damaged products, delayed deliveries, admin fees, etc. Ensured all credit notes, vendor rebate cheques, and intercompany payments are applied to the correct vendor rebates/programs The hardest part answer all customer & vendor queries by email in 24 hrs. I learned dealing with urgent matters and sensitive information, critical thinking skills; highly accurate and detailed Ability to prioritize and follow procedures. The enjoyable part of the job was increase customer satisfaction and help other areas.
Great company and benefits
- lot of things to learn - everyone within the department are helpful and reliable - there is lot of events in this company where you have a chance to meet the vendors and customers.
I am a current employee of just over 10 years. Sysco Calgary is an amazing place to work. Supportive managment, competitive pay, work life balance and ongoing training and development both personally and professionally. Pay wise you start with a good salary and make more money based on your growth. You get out what you put in. I work with clients everyday and their successes are mine as well. As I said, great people, great place, great pay. Not to mention they have operating companies all over the world, so you can potentially go abroad and work for the same company. Lots of pros, not many cons..
Staff pricing on product, good pay, work life balance, supportive management. Endless opportunity.
There are times when the hours can be long but thats when you make more money!
