General Laborer (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 11 April 2019
Only reason im at this job is because they promised me an apprenticeship if i did general labour for about 2 months, however what i didnt know is that it would take months for them only to tell you "you gotta wait on the ratios" over and over again.
Whats even worse is that they will treat you like a piece of human trash paying you minimum wage and having you roam around site picking up garbage day after day, you learn nothing and soon enough you lose all motivation.
Electrician Journeyman (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 17 March 2019
Worked as electrician and foreman for Symtech for several years. Office staff is a continuos revolving door with people coming and going. Project managers are continuously being replaced. As for working on site, some PMs like to micro-manage but have never rarely come to site. Employee morale is low as the fear of being laid off is always in the air. Only those former Plan employees and friends of upper management seem to have a job for life. They can be responsible for a major screw up but blame apprentice and management believes you. Other foreman will throw other foreman under the bus for no reason. This gets out to management but they will never intervene to get the real truth as they will always believe their friend. They always try to protect family and friends when it is these people that need to be let go. Some of these foreman have no business being in the position that they are in as they have no tech skills, people skills and have basic electrical knowledge. Upper management have no clue as to what really goes on at the site as the general foremen will lie and tell them what they want to hear. Foremen leaving site early leaving employees alone but still booking full week but yet they are employed. Copper missing from site but still employed. Holiday party is only for office staff and foreman, forgetting that the on-site workers need to be appreciated. But it’s these foremen who get drunk at the Xmas party and hobnob the CEO and VP. Amazing how some foremen can screw up job after job and still be employed.
