Lots of overtime if you want
Production Worker (Former Employee) - Lethbridge, AB - 29 December 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedCold on the production floor, must be able to handle it. Its noisy. Very repetitive work, small lunch rooms and bathrooms. Needs updating. Microwaves are abused and never work.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Long hours

It's a paycheck.
Truck Driver (Current Employee) - Lethbridge, AB - 9 December 2021
Management could not care less about their drivers. Our loyalty bonus was cut in half (this was given out in early December) then given out in January so couldn't be used for Christmas. Instead they gave us a pay raise. Except at the end of it all still made the same money, but half a bonus. No communication between supervisors, and drivers. You can write faulty equipment all week long. Don't expect it to get fixed. Delays on farm is standard. The first hour is yours with no pay. Only pay delay after that. Concern is only for product to arrive at plant. Driver safety in bad weather conditions is of no concern. You will make on average $75000 a year. You drive all night. Sunday to Thursday. So getting home sometime Friday. Saturday only actuall day off.
Pros
Steady paycheck, decent dental.
Cons
Saturday only day off, No communication between managers and drivers

Terrible for families
Chicken Catcher (Current Employee) - Lower Mainland, BC - 23 April 2021
Don't pay enough for the job you do. You are not appreciated from upper management you go do the job and go home forman appreciates you but that is it and he doesn't like the job either so ya it sucks heavy birds all the time 24 pounds a hand.
Cons
Really long hours, Payed travel time between jobs but not payed from your house or after work, back to your house so 2 to 3 hours you dont get paid for everyday.

Fun and enjoyable
General Labourer (Former Employee) - Production - 27 December 2020
I enjoyed packaging the chicken in the trays so fast Labeling them and putting the stickers it was really enjoyable The early morning shift was good well organized with good lead hands who are nice to their employees. Incase of a problem it's easy to approach them and solve it so quickly without getting to the management
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
They don't pay for the 1/2 hour break

Not a happy place!
Worked in various areas of the plant (Former Employee) - Lethbridge, AB - 4 November 2020
Spent a long time at sunrise. It was nice to work with a lot of different cultures and meet a lot of great people (employees). The full benefits are nice... but while there is some room for advancement the management is very poor and if they don't like you, you will know it. Lots of harassment happens here - and if it's done by a supervisor they won't deal with it or they sweep it under the rug). They try to get by without paying people when they get them to do a job that is above production. (In some cases but not all). They will take advantage of people if they have a "skill set". Normally you'd work an 8 hour shift but most of them your looking at +2 hrs of overtime every day, work alot of Saturdays and while that's great for money you have no time for family. It really drains you. You can see when people leave from working 6 days a week continuously they are sad, tired, but don't leave out of fear and loss of money). Employees don't receive proper training when they are new and because of that they are faced with a lot of stress and get yelled at cause they "can't do it" then either get fired or leave. Supervisors are under paid (compared to similar jobs in the area) and put under a lot of pressure even if it's morally wrong and infringes on workers rights. I do not recommend working here because of the management. The are deceitful, lie and do what ever they can to make a buck even if it's treating you bad. The only good side is benefits, the paycheck and getting to know some really great people that become like family.
Pros
Benefits, culture diversity
Cons
Ridiculous hours, poor management, staff taken advantage of, harassment

Great people makes it worth it
Meh (Former Employee) - Lethbridge, AB - 4 August 2019
If you can tough out production, there is room for advancement and better positions. If you go in with a bad attitude you will have an even worse experience. Get to know the people and it will make it all worth it!

Labourer (Current Employee) - Surrey, BC - 12 June 2019
Not a goodplace to work for. Not organized at all and lots of favouritism being played. Workers are not treated fairly . Takes almost 6 years to get the benefits packages and had to write a request about anything and everything, and don’t be so sure if it will be approved.
Pros
No pros at all
Cons
Too less space to mention

Jobs at Sunrise Farms
Tough
Production Worker (Former Employee) - Surrey, BC - 25 May 2019
Graveyard shift can take a toll on your health, especially working those type of hours in production. It is tough since its straight labor and some parts of the job can feel brutal, other parts not so much.
Pros
Good pay, 40 hours a week with option of overtime.
Cons
Terrible work hours and can;t balance life activities properly, coworkers can be either nice or plain rude.

Awful. Awful. Awful.
Production Worker (Former Employee) - Lethbridge, AB - 10 April 2019
Terrible employer. Low pay rate, awful working conditions, management are nasty, and scapegoat everyone if they can. You're in a wet, refrigerated environment all day long and breaks seem to take forever to come. And you're there until the work is done, whether that's 8 hours or 18.
Pros
free coffee
Cons
long hours, low pay, no opportunities.

Toxic Culture
Sales (Former Employee) - Surrey, BC - 18 December 2018
no recognition, management has little to no engagement with non executive employees, toxic culture, repremanded for unknown policies & procedures. Unwritten rule, to be on call 24/7. Management is arrogant, aggressive & lack people skills. A very transactional company, that is driven solely by profit. Not customer eccentric nor invest in their people. Very secretive environment, tenured staff are very protective of their jobs & witch hunt to expose errors of newer staff, instead of coaching. Very unsupportive staff. Passionate for profit and job security, no passion for their staff. Benefits (what benefits?)Would not recommend.
Pros
Samples of test products
Cons
Everything else.

i enjoyed team work
Shipper (Former Employee) - Lethbridge, AB - 6 September 2018
A typical day at sunrise is that normal routine practices ,safety precaution observed when handling products.i have learned major skills like folk lift driving, operating the scale, how to drive power jacks and how to scan and correct label of products.our work place culture is every employee as a specific duties assign each day to do and its very important to ensure smooth flow target work schedule per day.the hardest part of the job is when their is rotation of work station and one is required to learn fast to adapt and operate machines on that specific position.the most enjoyable part is awarding of rewards after job well done and increase of salary its really a moral booster and makes everyone happy.
