Filing Clerk (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 26 June 2018
The day goes by fast as there is a lot of work . I learned to work under pressure as sometimes the Doctors needed the slides and blocks urgently and I would have to provide it to them in a timely manner. The co-workers are very nice to work with. It is a pleasure going to work every day. I love interacting with people and am always cheerful and happy.
A very academic institution with highly competent employees. Employees are treated with respect and ensuring in going learning for employees was mandatory and provided within the working environment. This ensured employees provided optimal and up to date level of care for patients.
My day starts with checking in with TL for priorities regarding the patients and staff. Check NPO status Daily weight Serving the meals Stacking the supplies Assist the nurses with the patient care Workplace is a multi culture place very interesting and fun. The hardest part is to see how illness doesn't recognize age. I'm very happy to work in this environment.
Wheelchair Services (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 24 April 2018
The people who worked there were very friendly and welcoming everyday I went to work. Additionally, the building was extremely well organized and clean. There was always work to be done and veterans who required moving from place to place on their wheelchairs. The hardest part of moving elderly citizens around was being careful with them and the most enjoyable part was meeting new people.
Project Manager (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 28 March 2018
There are excellent opportunities to come to grips with real healthcare and business problems, although the organization is immature in terms of IT practices. There are areas of excellence but projects move slowly and cautiously. A great place to develop talents and understand Health Informatics, but not a great place to learn best practices.
Opportunities to learn, great benefits, respect and accommodation of diversity and disability
Medical Laboratory Technician (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 24 October 2017
The salary at SBHS is not as good as other hospitals. Union is not so helpful but gives certain job stability. Workculture is ridiculous with a bunch of unhappy and unsatisfied emplyoees. Workload is really heavy especially during weekends when you're understaffed and management and supervisors are mean and bully. Teamwork is present in some departments though.
Personal Support Worker (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 5 September 2017
Assist Dr. & nurses with the care of patients. I learned care and compassion for those in need. I strived to do my best for each patient as I would hope someone would do for me if I were in need. The hardest part of the job was that it was very physically demanding. I enjoyed seeing the smiles on patients face when I made a difference in their life.
