I was given opportunities for advancement. Pay was decent. And for the most part they always tried to keep me working even when work was slow. Relaxed but efficient crews.

Great working environment, always an event or bbq to keep staff happy. RRSPs and Shares matching as well as a FANTASTIC health benefits plan. My only complaint; as a female it seemed much harder to move forward Especially in the industrial branches.
Pros
Company BBQs, fundraisers, RRSPmatching, Shares Matching
Cons
Pay is under market salary for expectation, and hard to move ahead as a female

Several divisions run out of this building. In fighting between these divisions - each one out for themselves. Department atmosphere is catty at best. Lots of whispering very unwelcoming to newcomers. Brown nosing at it's finest - a coworker will ask if you need help but only when the boss is listening. Boss is oblivious to what's going on around them and relies on brown noser to supply information. No training besides watching someone else do it - then attempt on your own. No room for advancement. Salary is entry level. They have a bonus system but lower level employees will rarely see it.
Pros
compressed work week
Cons
Atmosphere and no advancement

Not a difficult job, and the pay was good, but they didn't seem to value employees very well and at the time I was working there, they were having some theft.

First commercial construction company I have worked for all others have been in the industrial construction and manufacturing industries. It was a great learning experience for me, I enjoyed the interaction with the personnel of the owner as well as with Stuart Olson and subcontractors. I would recommend working with Stuart Olson if the opportunity presents itself.
Pros
Fair compensation
Cons
Does not have or adheres to company policies & procedures

Our days started with work safe meetings and light exercises . Job assignments , and job assessment , we made sure that work area was safe out before starting and also safe for others in the area, like caution tape or danger tape. The tools are gathered from tool grib or gang boxes, and inspected for safe use. Safe work permits where filled out with all the does and don'ts for a productive and safe work day
Pros
good people to work for
Cons
benifits

Hard work but worth the money. Can be out for long hours in the sun getting eating by bugs, yet $1000 at the end of the week makes in alright.

Stuart Olson did the best they could with the poor conditions they where given. Being out in the middle of nowhere 280KM north of yellowknife it was expected certain luxuries would be put to the wayside. But the great people i worked with and the even better wage made all those issues fade away.
Pros
Great Wage and Experience
Cons
No benifits and Poor living conditions

Good pay but very little contact with the home. Flights that booked for you that would have you at the airport for more then 24 hours. Work is work, but was very hard to stay positive.

The company has the potential to being an outstanding company to work for. They simply lack good consistent leadership. Pay: Not too bad - lots of overtime. People: 60-70% of them are great. Environment: Depending on where you work - you could be in BC or al the way in Sask in a camp. Benefits: Not Bad, Good Vacation: Good
Pros
Huge potential for advancement
Cons
Lack of leadership foundations.

check on issues thyat senior project managers may be stugglin with . assess actions to be taken. develope on going business contacts and action plans. assess and submit RFP applications. Check on status of accounts pertaing to on going projects as well as time limes. risk management assessment.mentor junior pm's etc.great talent ...most difficult part of job was to get junior managers to think ahead of the curve to head off possible problems instead of responding to them as they occurred.most enjoyable..working with people who loved their jobs and had fun at it.
Pros
expense account, benefits, travel, business development.
Cons
change of management too often.
