Nice people to work with, but unstable work hours
Written by Cashier (Former Employee) from North Vancouver, BC on 25 October 2018
It is next to impossible to get a raise at Stong's. It is a unionized workplace and raises are dependent on hours worked rather than on skill. People have been there for 20 years and get paid way more than they should be entitled to because they are lazier in general and very comfortable with their positions and not open to change. The younger newer - more... workers get bossed around by the higher seniority employees and are overworked, and get no benefits unlike the senior employees. Work hours are also not guaranteed. You could work anywhere between 4 and 40 hours in a week with no stable patterns fr ... - less
ProsNice co-workers and customers, Starting wage is higher than minimum, Nice management team, Every day is different, Nice store layout with lots of local and organic products
ConsRaises are not earned they are given based on how much you work, They play favourites, Scheduling issues, Hours per week are not guaranteed, No benefits, 10% off $50+ purchase but everything is very expensive
