Not what I expected
I was very excited to be hired at Stemcell following my undergrad. It's supposedly a hard company to get into.
Was told many times about the opportunities for advancement after one year at the company, as well as the numerous internal courses offered to employees. I believed that this would allow me to explore different areas of the company. However, - more ... there are a small number of internal courses, and many are reserved solely for employees who require the course.
Management style is quite old-school. Change happens very slowly, as typical in such a corporate top-down structure.
Co-workers are ... - less
ProsLavish christmas party and department summer event, Free tea and coffee, Great benefits (health benefits and RRSP matching)
ConsOld-school corporate structure, lots of moving around (positions and physical locations), high turn-over rate of employees, less opportunities for growth as are said.
