Really great company to work for, although I feel your experience may be altered based on the team you are on or your supervisor. Having a great supervisor is one of the main ways you can advance your career. They mention they have flex hours, but also expect you to be at work during regular work hours. Best part of work was to be part of a really great team that had a project manager who was very supportive and believed in helping his team advance. The hardest part was getting approvals and making business cases for things as simple as getting a laptop to be able to remotely work.
Pros
Fun Social Events
Cons
Rare bonuses

For the 4 years that I was at the Toronto Wellington Office there was incredible staff turnover. Very poor upper management. In times of difficulty it's the lower levels of staff that are let go first. No job security. Your always wondering when it's your time. No chance for advancement. Yearly pay raise is less than cost of living. They concentrate on bidding on large projects where smaller project wins would sustain the office with enough work. They have lost a number of proposals due to an inept proposal team. Projects have dwindled. No work sharing with other offices.

Stantec Wellington office has very special culture and has been famous to have huge staff turn around with no work/life balance. Stantec in my opinion has management issue not able to retain talented professionals. The reward system is very poor.

Terrible, poor & manipulative management with rude behavior. They built cults within the studio groups. If you want to be independent and avoid politics than this company is not for you .

Most people are avoiding studio meetings. The studio directors are great manipulators, with low-ranking manager / supervisor puppets ..

The biggest employee turnover ever..... Based on the company yearly report, last year they hired 100 new staff to compensate on employee loss. And every year its same old story... Generally speaking it takes 1-3 years for new employees to leave the company .

Growth opportunities not available. Often talented individuals are forced to job-hop from one company to another in order to grow in status and compensation..

..

Work-life imbalance. Due to constant company restructures, you have to work longer hours and weekends just to meet deadlines.

fast paced consultancy. Very entrepreneurial spirit, but a big publicly traded company with all the usual protocols. Aggressively expanding, and highly dynamic-- a lot of change..

I have over 10 years working experience in Toronto Architectural firms. I have a thorough knowledge of building systems and detailing with the ability to work independent to develop and prepare working drawings. Coordinating contract documents and document checking.

Underwent a re-brand last year. The new motto was "People First".
By "people" I assume they mean shareholders, as they do very little to support or retain staff.

The organization of the company is mainly "silos" which means groups work in isolation and there is very little cross-training or communication, making it a very inefficient work environment.

The pay is below average. Very few people working there seem happy.
Cons
low morale, focused solely on efficiencies

The managemnt seems to have a very poor perception on selection process.
They played with the prestige and honour of the prospective applicant while thinking that there is no dearth of candidates in the market to humiliate.

Cannot take decison firmly on the candidate and wasting their time.

Used to send a regret letter even after finalisation with reference check.
Pros
Do you find any?
Cons
Anything left over?

A typical day at work consisted of assisting with the design process and preparing electrical plans for institutional/ commercial buildings and generator replacements using CAD/Revit programs. I have increased my knowledge in fire alarm, lighting, power distribution plans, single line diagram and panel board schedule drawings following the Canadian Electrical Code. Continuously communicated with architects and other engineering disciplines as required for design coordination for multiple projects. The most enjoyable part of the job was completing a project and seeing the final product.
Pros
free lunch and learn
