Supportive friendly atmosphere

I enjoyed working at SBH for nearly 20 years. I would never have left if my service wasn't deleted in the 2017 health care cuts. Very supportive work family, I miss it.

Great place to work. I loved it there

Best place I've ever worked. Wish the pay and benefits were a bit better but I loved the job and my bosses were good to me. They rebuilt the facility in 2007 and it was so much more efficient. I highly recommend working here

Very Motivating and Supportive Culture

When I worked at St. Boniface Hospital, leadership was very open with all staff. The environment around the organization was rapidly changing and the President continually made efforts to make sure the organization knew what was going on to mitigate the fear and uncertainty. I worked with a great team very dedicated to patients and their care.

Pros

Good Salary and Benefits

Cons

Sometimes long hours

Enjoy the work

Very interesting at times with all the people you meet coming through the door. Some you see on a frequent basis. Also, some unfortunately don’t have the best attitude and swear. Just do your job and there’s usually something to counteract it by the end of the day

Pros

Great managers and co-workers

Cons

Dealing with some people who haven’t got the best attitude but that’s in any job.

Happy place to work

Great place to work too. If you looking for overtime's this is the right place. But sometimes if your not lucky enough you will encounter some rude patients and nurses.

Pros

lots of overtime

Cons

paired with lazy employees

Great

Good job security. Paid breaks. Paid time off. Friendly staff. All good working here. Just hate working shift work. Great place to learn skills and good support to do so.

Negative and cliquey

Working for the WHRA felt like I gave up any freedom I had as a human being. Since the over haul of hours it is so easy to burn out. If you want a full time job most positions require you to work 7 days in a row with awful rotations like days to nights. The PC government really messed up the health system and it felt as though staff really weren’t appreciated or recognized. The union can only go so far as to fighting for you. They have and will continue to lose hundreds of great employees each year from burn out. Working within a hospital for the WRHA has major issues with hierarchy. If you are not a nurse or a doctor you are treated poorly. Often taking the brunt of disgruntlement from nurses especially and certain doctors or even management. It took a huge toll on my mental health and self perception.

Pros

Working as a team, some staff appreciation like a free hotdog once a year

Cons

Awful rotations/positions, bullying from coworkers, judgemental atmosphere towards other staff and patients, extreme hierarchy

Terrible, toxic work environment

Bad management, poor communication, absolutely no room for advancement or bringing new ideas to light. Management is always trying to cut corners to save money

Pros

Vacation time, sick time off. Pension

Cons

Pay. Is weak, toxic environment, too many staff not working

Lots of opportunities to gain hours within my department, which eventually lead to permanent positions.

Got my foot in the door by starting as a casual, while being a casual employee I was able to pick up a healthy amount of hours. Within almost a year, I succeeded with obtaining a term and a permanent position. My manager was always supportive and very understanding, especially when I needed to move to causal due to my education for furthering my career in health care it was nice to have support from my department.

Terrible place to work

It’s absolutely the worst place to work. HR has no idea what goes on in the hospital. They do not investigate issues and believe people who lie. Supervisors are lazy did not check up on peoples work the hospital is disgusting. I do not recommend anyone working there

Pros

No pros

Cons

Backstabbing

St. b hosp, Robin's

They're ok, I liked working there, the co-workers are nice. Customers are nice. It's a fast-paced working area, sometimes slow. Training is provided as well.

Horrible management.

Management is horrendous. No opportunity for advancement. No respect given from staff patients or visitors. Horrible working environment. Under paid and under appreciated.

I prefer to not comment as I feel sometimes a job just isn't a good fit for a person and employer. To leave a subjective comment would be potentially damaging.

Great work culture

Amazing work culture, focused on education advancement and support from management, educators, allied health team to co workers. Maintains a supportive environment.

Healthcare Cuts Felt Big Time

Poor moral. Management can be difficult to get a hold of in a timely manner. Equipment meant for job use in poor repair. It's sad to see a once great hospital doing so poorly after all of the healthcare cuts.

Decent work, not decent pay

Decent work, not decent pay for the profession. Management is unorganized, fell through on a pay raise, no vests provided. old uniform from the 80's training is awful. Still have yet to remove Garda out-of-house security. Work is either very boring or stressful
