The St. Vincent de Paul is an organization that gives all of it's profit to charity. All of the staff are volunteers and very kind and dedicated. The workplace was enjoyable and the staff make it a good environment to work in.

I am pleased to volunteer at St Vincents de Paul thrift store because I enjoy working with the many other volunteers sorting the clothing donations. It is always interesting to see the variety of clothing people have donated and I am glad to be part of an organization that does so much to help the community.

Out-of-the-way thrift shop

St. Vincent de Paul Society is a reasonable place of employment. The work is not terribly difficult; the most physical task is typically the breaking down of cardboard and moving of heavy bags. The atmosphere is very laid-back and relaxed; little is taken very seriously. Whether this is a positive or a negative is highly subjective. Note that employment is volunteer only. Good for earning high school volunteer hours, not so good for getting paid.

At this location I was a sales associate, and what I did was I folded clothes that were messy, I took clothes off the stock and put them onto the racks where customers could see them and I also arranged clothes that were strewn around so that they would be appealing to potential customers. The hardest part of the job would have been to arrange the clothes as this took a lot of time and had to be done meticulously. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with customers and helping them with their problems.

Fantastic workplace

My volunteer work at St. Vincent de Paul has been nothing but enjoyable. Every time I visit Peterborough I have the opportunity to do service work at this local food bank. My first time volunteering, the staff was very helpful and showed me all the ropes. I love working there, the other volunteers and customers are so welcoming.

Such a wonderful organization. They do so much for the city of Peterborough and many other cities as well. Generous is an understatement with this organization. People offers out of the goodness of their hearts too give their own time to help out others in need. We could all be there one day with a snap of a finger so we should try and do as much as we can to support time and money if we can to this organization. Wonderful people, great staff, grewwat volunteers.
