Its a multi-cultural friendly environment were everyone is welcome. All the staff are so friendly and are so good with the kids. They do an amazing job to make sure the kids who cant afford much can have the great summer they deserve.

Great entry level position, not much room for advancement

Amazing amazing staff. They will support you from your first day to your last. They are all amazing women to work with. Management at different homes need some help as they pick and choose favourites. They work on a seniority system so if you are not next for a full-time opportunity, you may need to move on. Some staff have been working there for 8-10 years before they even get a full-time position. Overall a great place to learn about the field and start your career.

Pros

Multi-cultural environment

I helped give patients their medication, organized activities and helped patients with daily living. I often worked alone with the patients except during lunch. This experience was entirely rewarding.

Pros

Free lunches, meeting/talking to patients

Cons

Far from Brampton

A high paced and engaging enviroment

It was a very high paced work enviroment.I learned a lot about the resiliance of the women in the shelter and myself. The hardest part of the job was to see a client fall between the cracks of the system and the impact it had on the quality of thier lives in spite of all thier/my efforts, heart breaking. The most enjoyable part of the job was to be able to engage with the women and celebrate life or the day through group activities like playing games, doing yoga or dancing and laughing.

Pros

a certain level of autonomy

Cons

long hours, insufficent wages.
