Terrible Employer, only work at Spud if you are in dire straits.
Packer (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB15 December 2018
Spud is without a doubt the worst place I have ever worked. Work injuries are the norm, employees are treated like cattle and morale is
non-existent.
Pros
Free food
Cons
long hours, high injury rate, poor compensation, not following labor law.

Warehouse manager is awful
pickers (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB8 September 2016
Terrible warehouse manager who treat you like dirt. If he is still there, watch out. His name is Mohammed.

No respect for his staffs, micro-management and run his team like a dictactor. No experience and not qualify to be a warehouse manager.
Pros
free lunch
Cons
poor manager

Good people- Terrible management
Former Packer (Former Employee) –  Calgary15 March 2016
There's a lot of twisting with heavy loads, which can really hurt your back, but a lot of the workers are easy enough to get along with, which makes the work day not so bad. The real problem is management- there were people crying in the break room over how terribly they had been treated. 0/10 recommend.
Pros
Some free lunches

Administrator (Former Employee) –  Admin13 January 2015
No chance of advancement unless the vancouver team likes you. No need for experience they just put anyone in any position needed then expect you to work senseless hours trying to figure out what to do. Absolutely no training program! No manager at calgary location so good luck getting a review for a raise. They promise shares and profit sharing yet no paper work to confirm this, the owner just keeps promising it will happen. The people you will work with are great until they realize it's not a great place to work at. No management, no training, no incentives....
Pros
Free box of half rotten vegetables every friday

very bad moral
Quality Control Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB17 November 2014
The moral at this place of work is so bad. They used to be all about a family company that is there for the communities. You are just a worker bee. No one cares in this place. Especially the management team. I would never recommend anyone to apply at this company.

SPUD is a fast moving and growing company and so if you want to work here you should be ready for a wild ride! The CEO, Peter was the founder of Jones Soda and so has had some great successes. They are working really hard to become a Top Vancouver Employer and are doing a great job.
