Part timers typically have one interview with the Store Manager and find out within a week if they've been hired.
Management applicants need to go through two rounds of interviews; one with the Store Manager and another with the District Manager.
While the store has no dress code, it doesn't mean you can show up wearing inappropriate or revealing clothing. Business casual would be your best bet, even if you feel a bit overdressed in comparison. It's better to put your best foot forward than not try at all - we're still looking to hire people who care about first impressions.
A lot of people expect Spencer's to be laidback but it can be anything but. For the casual part-timer, you're not expected to do much but stay on top of guests and be pushy in your sales (for lack of a better term). Management is typically overloaded with things to do and can be quite stressed out because the District Managers typically aren't understanding. But if you're lucky to work with a friendly team that supports one another, it outweighs the negatives of the work environment.
Part-timers struggle to get more than 15 hours a week during non-peak seasons. During holidays, part-timers can get above 20 hours. Managers typically work 30-40 hours a week, while sales supervisors get between 10-20 depending on how big the management team is.
How long does it take to get hired from start to finish at Spencer's Gifts? What are the steps along the way?
Was quick. An interview and I was hired. Began working a week or so later.
