Ignore the negatives - give us a try
Caregiver (Current Employee) - Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire - 6 November 2023
Lovely clean sites, a pleasure to work in. I started my career with this company at another site and it wasn't until I got to my current site, that I really felt welcomed and truly part of a team. We're not just colleagues, we're a team that are friends who work hard to make a patient's experience, a positive one. I feel my pay is fair, yes we'd all like a little more, but you are given plenty of opportunities to advance and pay is reviewed regularly. Twice yearly bonuses make you feel appreciated as well as all the competitions and monetary awards given in recognition of outstanding performance. I've not had to raise any concerns so do not have any comments to make in how they are handled. What I do know is that if something did arise, it will be dealt with professionally by our upper management. Personally, the flexibility shown to me in terms of shifts or time off, has really been outstanding. It has allowed me to maintain a good balance between work and home commitments.

Not satisfied with the local and regional management
Scrub Nurse (Former Employee) - Oxford, Oxfordshire - 23 August 2023
Big issue with management -Luck of support , not welcome attitude, giving attention to gossip, manipulative managers, insulting people. Make you feel disrespected, not giving chance for improvement and development, was important only financial profit, no medical knowledge.
Pros
No applicable
Cons
10 hours most of the time per day

Great Company
Recruitment Consultant (Current Employee) - Bolton - 1 June 2023
During my time at SpaMedica I feel like I have been supported well, I have progressed quickly and learnt a lot. I have been given some great opportunities and I love what I do. My manager is great, always has the time for me and listens. Our team work hard and succeed together.
Pros
Supportive environment, flexible, lots of opportunities to grow and develop, annual bonuses, quarterly snacks and a great work environment.

Clique environment
Service Promotions Executive (Former Employee) - Midlands - 31 May 2023
To feel part of the team, you have to really suck up to them. Otherwise very little effort is made. Of course this depends on what role you take within the company. Managers show a lot of favouritism to certain individuals. Training was good, but team members do not check in on you thereafter unless prompted.
Pros
Great work-life balance.
Cons
Either excessive contact from management/team or none what so ever.

Bad experience
Patient Services Advisor (Former Employee) - Bolton, Greater Manchester - 19 May 2023
I found the working environment to be very intimidating. People don't talk to you, they seem to form their own friendship groups and if your face doesn't fit you are made to feel very much alone and reserved. Managers are friendly to agents, but only the ones they want to be. They allow you to go on a dummy system and have a go at navigating the systems, but without being told what to do it seems a little pointless.I wouldn't recommend working in the call centre, I had to leave during the training week. So much information to learn but no coaching, it all got too overwhelming, plus I didn't feel I was made to belong anyway.
Pros
I can't think of any
Cons
Half an hour lunch break. Salary really bad for the job you have to do

When setting up too quiet and slow, now very busy

Stress-free, easy role
Medical Receptionist (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 7 May 2023
The job itself is very stress-free. There’s no going home at night worrying about work. It’s all left at the door. Most of the time it is simple and not too mind-boggling. Just feel like sometimes the reception team aren’t appreciate enough but everyone is easy going and all get along

A good place to work
Manager (Current Employee) - Leeds, West Yorkshire - 1 March 2023
Lots to learn and a lot of space to grow if you’re willing to put the work in. There are new opportunities coming all the time so for those interested in ophthalmics it’s a great place to work

Very poor communication from higher management. No career progression. Poor pension and sick pay
RGN- I only worked for this company for a short while and that was enough. No real progression as a nurse, the role was very mundane and to be honest, they didn’t really need a trained nurse for the job. I had a nice team of nurses but even they didn’t have a lot of positive comments about the company, If you want to specialise in ophthalmic care, yes, give it a go but it’s not a very exciting role and I couldn’t see any real career development apart from going into theatre which didn’t interest me.Our clinic wasn’t up and running so spent a lot of time sitting around doing nothing. Promised patients, but contracts never materialised. I left as I was tired of being told we would see patients very soon and I also knew the job would be become very monotonous.
Pros
No nights
Cons
Poor sick pay, poor pension and no career development

Fast paced enjoyable
Patient Co-ordinator (Current Employee) - South East - 21 September 2022
I'm enjoying learning everything and meeting new people. I've travelled to different sites for training and feel this has helped me learn different ways to work in the work place bit, to still get the same outcome.

Cons
Fast paced environment that won’t be suitable for everybody.

Avoid at all cost
HCT (Former Employee) - South East - 17 August 2022
If you have an ounce of integrity, care for your px’s and want a true work/life balance, avoid like the plague! You’ll be treated like you don’t matter and get constantly fobbed off. Covering hospitals who are also short staffed and loosing staff constantly. All travel/hotels paid for but, you’ll feel trapped as endless training is done away from home and you won’t find this out until the last minute!
Pros
None
Cons
Too many to list

Good place to work
Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Oldham - 5 August 2022
Good place to work, good work life balance working 7:30 - 5:30 but only 4 days a week with one 5 o clock finish. Good management who set targets to meet for pay rises, opportunity of progression with different job roles from clinical to theatre. Travel expenses paid with time given back to you for travelling. Always the option for overtime and Sundays are double pay which always bumps your wage up. Good team you can always have a laugh with but are also supportive and always willing to help and get involved.
Pros
Twice yearly bonuses. Regular pay rises. Lots to learn.
Cons
May be expected to cover sites but they aren’t usually too far away and expenses are paid.

Best Career Move
Area Manager (Current Employee) - South Central - 5 August 2022
I heard about SpaMedica through an ex colleague that already works there. It’s the best decision I have ever made changing jobs. My whole career has been in healthcare and I can honestly say they care about their patients. You have to work hard as it’s fast paced but putting in the time and effort you get recognised and rewarded. The support from the number of departments is so comforting and everyone is so lovely. I came from private healthcare before and adding that extra job security really makes you feel reassured. I love my job and all my team around me, definitely get that family feel.

Friendly, Flexible workplace
Medical Receptionist (Current Employee) - Manchester City Centre, Greater Manchester - 29 June 2022
Fast paced, kind, relaxed environment. Not a micromanaged role. Always overtime available but no pressure to do it. A very open environment The service makes a genuine difference to the patients lives and its really nice to see. Feel pay could be a little better but seems to be reviewed often which is positive
