Easy job but management seems lost
Call Centre Representative (Former Employee) - St. John's, NL - 20 March 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedOverall it is an easy job, you just call customers and help them as a sales representative, renew their plans or upsell when necessary. But management have quite a lot of rules, they say to call customers just to give them the experience, then push harder and harder for agents to get sales. It can be tiring hearing "what's the reason for no sales", when the problem is the leads are bad (no promotions on the account), or just simply because customers do not pick up the call.

very high stress.
Call Centre Agent (Former Employee) - St. John's, NL - 26 February 2023
this call center was one of the worst working experiences that i have had. every day i went to work thinking i was going to be "walked out". at one point the management stated we were not allowed to go to the washroom if all our break time was used up.
Pros
no pros to this company.
Cons
horrible management.

My impression of that company.
Call Centre Representative (Former Employee) - London - 11 April 2022
I find that this company doesn’t care and isn’t supportive for people with disabilities. I have applied many times even though I have worked for them for 3 months last year. If someone wants more training they won’t give it to the person.
Pros
Has contests for the highest sellers every month.

Avoid at all costs it’s not worth the headache
Call Centre Representative (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 16 March 2022
One of the worst and inhumane company in Canada, if you can’t find anything just work there for a while until you find something else. It’s not worth it.
Pros
Free headaches and get cursed at by customers 24/7
Cons
Unorganized management, bad hours, false promises, low pay, HR doesn’t care at all

Not fun at all.
Call Center representative (Former Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 31 January 2022
We were hired as billing specialists to help consumers reduce their monthly cost. That could only be done if we sold more services so not great. Consumers were looking to save money and not spend more.
Pros
None
Cons
Long hours, poorly maintained facilities, poor management and coaching and mentoring.

satisfactory work place
Call Centre Representative (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 29 August 2021
- long hours with extremely short breaks, when you're even a minute over your break the TL's (supervisors) call you every time - very low pay - fixed schedules that change weekly and you only receive your schedule weekly... making it hard to plan your life outside of work for anything, also strict rules around switching around shifts
Pros
full time hours, remote
Cons
long hours, short breaks, low pay, no flexibility with scheduling, stressful calls, unexpected expectations from tl's/management

No accurate training, 2-3 pictures of the system only and useless things which you do not ever use on floor. But expect stats in the very beginning
Call centre representative (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 20 December 2020
In training never talked about plans, unlocking, lowering bills, closing leases .but they expect you to maintain stats and learn things yourself, else they will fire you. it was soooooo much stressful and useless.
Pros
fun SMEs
Cons
everything

HR and Management are not professional
Call Centre Representative (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 21 May 2020
HR is not approachable, management expectations are impossible to meet. No matter how good you are, there would be no recognition. The supervisors were really nice, though.

Bad management
Call Centre Agent (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 14 September 2019
Had to leave because a family died, none cared. You can only get a leave when you’re on the top. Was also trying to get an employment letter, emailed them 2 weeks before, HR emailed it to me the day I need it and let me tell you, even a kid can compose what was written there.

Horrible
Call Centre Agent (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 9 July 2019
They actually treat you like trash. They are extremely unorganized, rude, and underhanded. I am a seventh day adventist meaning I practice my faith on Saturdays and according to my religion working on that day is a no go. I had made this known to my interviewer and was reassured that this would be fine. I was later denied that RIGHT by management. I was then instructed after pushing my argument for 3 months to fill out a “Religious Request Form” and when it came time for approval HR lost my form, yes LOST. To be honest that was only one of my many issue with this company and believe me the list is much longer.
Pros
Overtime is offered
Cons
Operations or Supervising Staff tend to be dodgy to providing help.

You won't get your bonuses.
Call center agent and floor support (Current Employee) - St. John's, NL - 8 May 2019
With select exceptions the management and team leads at S&P St. John's have no idea what they're doing. Many of them are misinformed about the client's procedures and policies. Worse still are the upper management that refuse to engage in the work culture, do not understand the process behind working on the phones and look down on the call center floor. They have little to no experience with the work, and what little experience they may have had seems to have gone out the window the moment they sat down in a management position.
Not only this, but the bonus structure is designed in such a way that even 30 seconds of deviance from their expected attendance means that any and all bonuses you earned in the past are null and void - not just attendance bonuses, but customer service ones as well. It's completely unfair and unforgiving, and I have yet to encounter someone who has had their bonuses paid out.
There is very little help or support for the agents on the phone, as well. Generally there is a rule that they are supposed to have one support agent for every ten phone agents. At some times I've seen that ratio drop to one for every fifty. It's grueling, punishing work, and the customers are having to wait and receiving terrible service because there is no one around to help when agents need it the most. What support they do have is swamped and rushing and still not able to get the work done because they're splitting themselves among multiple agents.
Moreover, there is a policy at the site that does not allow for flexibility of hours. The hours worked are based on tenure -
Pros
Job culture among agents
Cons
Terrible management, broken promises, no incentives

BELL Outbound
Call Centre Representative (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 3 April 2019
Overall, it’s an okay place to work. You will get write ups over the most uncontrollable things. Favoritism towards certain individuals. Bonuses was off sometimes.
Pros
Make above minimum wage
Cons
Long hours, hr and tl’s are of no help

Friendly environment
Call Centre Representative, Part-time (Current Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 22 January 2019
Friendly staff, so we can work joyfully. We can learn how to communicate with customers. The hardest part of this job is multitasking and handle customer's behavior. Everything is making easy with good guidance of our team leaders.

ok place
Call Center Agent (Former Employee) - Trenton, ON - 22 January 2019
It is an okay place to work but they need to stop changing the way they do things from day to day. They need to be on the same page every single day not change it as a new day comes. makes it hard for agents to keep up and do their job.
Pros
some incentives
Cons
always under pressure as they change things from day to day

Good Co-workers
Call Centre Agent (Former Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 20 December 2018
It was a good environment and nice people, but it wasn't the most pleasant experience due to the fact that, people who pick up the calls were mostly not the brightest of people and would be very irritated to pick up calls. Also we were selling Bell services who personally were not my ideal and most favourite company.
Pros
Good salary and benefits
Cons
long hours, frustrated customers.
