Their casual policy of 6 shifts biweekly is ridiculous. They have part time rotations that are less. I honestly think they do not want to retain staff.

Focused on People

Southbridge is a growing organization that is people and resident focused. They are heavily invested and motivated to put together teams of people who are invested in the care of residents in LTC.

Terrible senior management and culture

Senior management is less than satisfactory, work culture is toxic in every sense and there are no support or structure systems in place. Residents are often left feeling alone and unheard.

Awful workplace conditions

Management has no consideration for personal life. Felt like being back in high school, so clicky. Dietary management has no experience, tried to tell me how to cook

Pros

Made some friends

Cons

Management, no life

Poor work environment full of backstabbers

Avoid this place, they treat you badly, and you're just a number. Food served to residents are never to temp or burnt. Lots of safety hazards. Not a good work place.

I enjoy working here!

I've worked here for a few months as a PSW and really enjoy the environment! Great team and supportive management. I've learned a lot since starting after school a few months ago

Terrible Management Cornwall Home

Current Employee Cornwall – Management are young and unprofessional, they are never seen only heard barking orders, have a gang mentality. A man from upper corporate office comes down weekly but he never seeks feedback from staff, only seen socializing with management. Other good managers have quit, high turnover in all departments. Families and residents issue complaints constantly, we work short and can't give quality care. Staff morale has hit rock bottom. Do not work here!

Pros

None, new building but it's falling apart

Cons

Immature management with lacking experience is very evident

Southbridge homes showed me there are worse places such as theirs than other homes. Cheap, underfunded, lack of managers who know what they are doing, immature, no $$ spent on cap. Expenditures, the Thornbury location has floods in the basement. every time it rains.Run as fast as you can, unless you like a toxic workplace.

Pros

Nice town

Cons

Everything, poorest of pay rates and constant critiques

Awful

Management doesn’t know how to manage, will lie to you about everything. Expect you to do the work of at least 2 people including things that are out of your scope of work. Management likes to bend rules when it benefits them and not the workers on the floor. They also seem to think it’s acceptable to have 18 residents to 1 staff member. They do not listen to their staff when suggestions are put forth on improving both residents day to day living or staff member work load.If that sounds like a great time, then by all means apply!

Pros

Coworkers are good for the most part, residents are lovely

Cons

Laughable!

This company is a joke. I will attempt to make my review as entertaining as it was working there. It’s easy to get hired here. If you have a heartbeat, you’re in. And if you are a “yes person” and willing to sell your soul to this company, you should definitely apply. You’ll do well here and likely get promoted quickly. Mismanaged. Imagine a bunch of nurses running a company with little to management training. Speaking of training, that does not exist here. And please don’t hold your breath for that thing your manager promised you; you’ll turn blue.No consistency/clarity. Expectations change daily, sometimes hourly. Managers can’t give you an answer because they do not know themselves. If you like confusion and chaos, this is the place for you! Don’t believe what the job description says, it is most likely false. If you expect to feel valued and supported, think again. Do you like to get paid? If so, move along because this company will make you wait for it. They will make you think it is due to a slew of internal issues but really, your coworkers will tell you that it’s happened to them as well. Getting paid back your expenses is also a treat. In summary, I would not recommend working at this company. And, I was only there a month.

Pros

The staff onsite at the home. They are lovely and truly care about the residents.

Cons

Almost everything.

Scheduler

The job description is nothing like the job.. this is a 2 person job. The management is very incompetent and blind eyed to all the issues this home has. No communication between all levels of management.

long term a lot to improve on

The unions don't help well, only if you work your butt off and for some reason break small rules, like call in sick many times or no show up, accident at work they help a little to give chance. Other workers was forced to work still even they were injured, crutches, back hurt. It may sound bs but up to you to try of how they wouldn't help enough with workers, this union can suck in a way. The work schedule flexibility is very poor you get your minimum but after that they can randomly add you to the schedule so if have other work it may have chance to intefer and if call it off they may be angry about it.

Pros

Certain workers can be helpful

Cons

Union, manager, scheduling, wages, communication

Highly toxic

Overrun, and overworked, Staff are pitted against each other and compared to each other. You do not have the time in the day to complete all the tasks. Everyone is told to leave it to the next shift causing resentment and frustration and you don't get paid if you stay past your scheduled times. It was a regular experience to be "forced over" meaning if someone doesn't show up to work staff can't leave, forcing you to work 16-hour days. Treated like you were on call on your days off and guilted into coming in. Co-workers are abusive and you never have time for the clients.

Pros

I learned to become a very strong person and stand up for myself

Cons

Debilitating anxiety, panic attacks, used up and spit out

Awesome Company

I have had the privilege of working for Southbridge for a year and half and this is the best company I have worked for. Management goes above and beyond and is extremely helpful Competitive wages and great benefits and room for growth within the company

Please do not work here

This is not a good place to work and grow your skills if that you are seeking for. The other staffs are rarely supporting you and working as a team. They will ignore your struggles. We always work under too much pressure and intense stressful environment. For example, if your tables need a first choice of the menu, the other staff will try to take all for their tables first, the kitchen is always lack of food. And interesting things are staff eating the residents’ food behind their back, then told them their choice was ran out.The manager will not listen, they also print out your email with your name so the other staff can read.Don’t trust what they promise you. I don’t think this is a good place to work and to put your members in.

For Profit LTC

I worked as a PSW. I enjoyed the residents as well as some awesome coworkers. Management were very kind and approachable. Unfortunately being a for profit ltc facility in a rural area there were some major staffing shortages that made it a very difficult place to provide the level of care that residents deserve.

Huge Disappointment

This is by far the worst organization I have ever worked for. I wish I had done more research on Southbridge prior to accepting the position. You are provided with zero support from management. If you want to work for a company that values it’s employees and follows basic HR principles, do not work here. If you value work life balance, do not work here. The CEO will randomly call you out of the blue, after hours. Very unprofessional management. If you want to work somewhere where your input and opinion matters, do not work here. They tell you benefits start immediately but then when you inquire months after you have started why you haven’t received your benefits you are told that the homes are busy and in outbreak. There is no HR department so essentially upper management do as they please and continuously talk down to people. It’s a for profit company and they clearly do not care about their homes and their employees. They are concerned with profit and acquisition of homes. I didn’t realize Southbridge owned the LTC homes that had the government brought in the military during Covid due to the conditions in the homes. If I could give this company zero stars I would.

Horrible and Unprofessional Workplace

They recently let me go for nothing I did wrong reallly. They lied to my face by telling me I had time to change; they said 2 weeks, but only gave me 5 days. Didn't prepare you for non trained tasks. Expected you to know everything. They dont communicate or tell you anything. My manager was the worst one I've ever worked for. They said we couldn't take food even tho everyone else was taking it and allowed. Noone talks to you, you just get written up.

Pros

Literally None

Cons

No benifits, dont get paid to be in union even tho you are? Report you for everything

Great place to work

I am a dietary aide at Parkview Manor in Chesley and I love it. The management team goes above an beyond to make sure all the staff are well treated and respected. The residents are very sweet and fun. Would recommend this home to all of my friends looking for work.

Pros

Free Food

Cons

None
