Long Hours - Arrogant Management
Instrumentation and Controls Engineer (Former Employee) –  Surrey, BC13 April 2018
You are expected to put in a lot of overtime everyday. Little consideration is given to work life balance. It is ok to leave 2 hr late but you get shouted at for being even a 1 min late. Arrogant owner.
Pros
Lot of experienced and nice people at non-management level
Cons
Long Hours, Low salary, No field experience

An interesting workplace with a lot of great people.
Quality Control Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Surrey, BC15 March 2017
A great place as long as you are confident in what you are doing. Mentor-ship is not as prevalent as originally communicated though they do try to be consistent with the current job market.

Working Culture & Atmosphere
Senior Project Expeditor (Former Employee) –  Surrey, BC2 September 2015
Very acceptable working atmosphere with Solaris Management allowing most employees to manage their work requirements based on an individuals past work experiences.

Majority of co-workers were pro-active and enjoyable to work with and many offered assistance when required. Management were cooperative and supportive.

Hardest part of working at times were the long hours and pressures initiated by client demands for information & reporting that was felt to be unnecessary - ie. duplicated reporting of same facts, figures & information on various reports.

Overall the enjoyable part of work was the camaraderie of all employees working together and management recognizing a persons experience.
Pros
Free coffee!

Working in the Gas and Oil industry was knew to me.
Piping designer/drafter (Former Employee) –  Surrey, BC25 February 2015
When you first join Solaris they give you a mentor which is great to have someone show you the process of the gas industry and the company's work ethic.
I worked in the Pipeline group, creating P & ID and isometric drawings. It was fast paced work environment.

Serious work place with a little fun activities
Project Manager (Project Lead) (Current Employee) –  Surrey, BC23 August 2013
Meeting with company's client and co-workers. Doing work outs in the gym.
I learned more about oil & gas industry in Canada.
Management is fairly strong on traditional way of dealing with employees.
This is a multi-cultural work place. Inter-cultural friendship binds are limited.
The hardest part of job is to cope with deadlines, when departments haven't delivered as they were supposed to.
The most enjoyable part of the job is to get new project to ensure job security.
Pros
Allowing overtime as required to meet the deadlines
Cons
some favoritism style behavior among top management
